Angel Locsin flies past innuendoes with Emmy nomination By ALEX VALENTIN BROSAS October 6, 2009, 2:52pm
Did Angel Locsin distribute relief goods to typhoon Ondoy victims by herself to hog the credit for her good deeds?
This is what the actress' detractors claim even as they accuse her of purposely avoiding other ABS-CBN stars who are also into such charity works.
An interview with Angel on “Showbiz News Ngayon” cleared up the brouhaha.
Angel said no one is avoiding anybody. She acted on her own as soon as she saw on TV how people were suffering. She chose to zero in on Payatas because she was familiar with the area.
Overwhelmed by the multitude asking for help, the actress launched a "text brigade" asking friends for assistance.
One of the first to respond to her plea was Mariole Alberto of Star Magic who immediately sent Piolo Pascual, Zanjoe Marudo, Shaina Magdayao, and Maricar Reyes to Payatas. By the time these Star Magic stars arrived at the site, Angel was already distributing packed goods.
But the nasty talks didn’t stop there. According to rumormongers, Angel’s funds for the Ondoy victims come from a filthy rich Chinese suitor---including the P600,000 the actress said came from her own pocket.
The amount was confirmed on “The Buzz” on Oct. 4 by Boy Abunda who thanked her profusely for the generous gesture.
Notwithstanding the rumors, blessings continue to pour on Angel. The actress had just been chosen as Best Actress nominee in the 37th International Emmy Awards for her role in the ABS-CBN TV series, “Lobo.”
Angel will be competing against Emma De Caunes (“Nightbirds,” CHEZ WAM, France), Cecilia Suarez (“Capadocia,” HBO Latin American Originals, Mexico), and Julie Walters (“A Short Stay in Switzerland,” BBC, United Kingdom) in the category.
Kris Aquino, who made the announcement on “Showbiz News Ngayon” on Oct. 5, said that a few minutes after their segment on Angel’s nomination aired, the actress texted her, “Ate Kris, gusto kong maglulundag sa tuwa, pero hindi akma sa panahon."

STARS FOR OTHERS Stars play real-life heroes to ‘Ondoy’ victims
By Bayani San Diego Jr., Marinel Cruz Philippine Daily Inquirer First Posted 22:22:00 10/08/2009
Suited and ready
ABS-CBN star Angel Locsin turned up at a relief center of the Philippine National Red Cross wearing a swimsuit under a loose-fitting shirt. The actress, a former member of the national swimming team, said she was prepared to join rescue missions.
“I came ready for deployment,” Angel said. But she was just as willing to help repack relief goods that were being dispatched that day.
The next day, the actress visited the Payatas dumpsite in Quezon City and donated goods to the residents. “The houses there don’t have second levels,” she pointed out. “The people lost everything.”
Angel also reportedly donated P600,000 to Sagip Kapamilya, an ABS-CBN group tasked to address humanitarian crises caused by emergencies.

FUNFARE By Ricardo F. Lo (The Philippine Star) Updated October 10, 2009 12:00 AM
The silent search is over.
The role of Sharon Cuneta’s daughter in Mano Po 6: My Mother, the successful Regal franchise intended for the Metro Filmfest in December, has landed on Heart Evangelista’s lap. It was first offered to Angel Locsin but she wasn’t given the go-signal by Star Cinema even if she still has an existing contract with Regal. Mother Lily could have filed a “breach of contract” case against Angel, but what for? She just shrugged it off and let divine justice take its course.

MANILA – Cesar Montano is willing to take a leave from show business to concentrate on his political career.
Montano is running for governor of Bohol in 2010 elections. This will be his second attempt to enter the political arena. In 2007, Montano, or Cesar Manhilot in real life, ran for senator but lost.
Once Montano files his certificate of candidacy before the Commission on Elections next month, he is required to take a leave from his television shows, including his top-rating singing program, “The Singing Bee.”
Montano, however, has already made up his mind.
"My heart is fixated sa Bohol, lalo na sa edukasyon ng mga kabataan at mga disenteng hospital na kailangan namin. Unang-una, gusto kong i-regulate ang fishing sa Bohol, dalhin ang quality education dito sa Manila sa Bohol, [at] dumami ang prep schools sa Bohol," Montano said.
For the meantime though, Montano is gearing for his two big films - an action and drama movies.
Montano said he is still in the process of finding a new leading lady for his upcoming action film. Anne Curtis, Angel Locsin, and Bea Alonzo are among those who are being considered, he said.
Montano recently graced the feast of Birhen del Pilar in Zamboanga City where he was greeted by thousands of his fans.-Report from Mario Dumaual, ABS-CBN News

Stars to the rescue DIRECTLINE By Boy Abunda (The Philippine Star) Updated October 16, 2009 12:00 AM
Kris Aquino is the ultimate fundraiser. A day after Ondoy struck, she was on television asking friends, strangers and the public for donations. And the response was awesome. People helped people. What we saw in ABS-CBN’s Sagip Kapamilya was a magnificent display of kindness and generosity. The entertainment industry played a most challenging and fulfilling role in the relief operations.
Gerald Anderson was checking on his neighbors and was seen swimming in the muddy waters with his brother. His neighbors Cesar Montano and Bayani Agbayani also helped people around the area. Although Claudine Barretto and Raymart Santiago’s house was hard hit by the floods, they still took time out to help the victims. Jericho Rosales who came to the rescue of Claudine and Raymart was caught on video with his surfboard helping a grandma, a boy and a dog. Raymart and Echo teamed up to rescue kapitbahay. Claudine said Raymart was in the waters from 12 noon until 10 p.m. Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo were the first to arrive when Gladys Reyes asked for help. Gladys and her kids were trapped inside their house. Arnel Pineda donated $25,000 while Angel Locsin donated P600,000. KC Concepcion was all over distributing relief goods to the worst-hit areas. Everyone has a story to tell about his experience with Typhoon Ondoy. And each one is trying to come up with feasible solutions to prevent another catastrophic flooding.

Spearheaded by Ms. Angel Locsin, the site contains items belonging to Filipino celebrities like Anne Curtis, Dimples Romana, and Ms. Kris Aquino.
Visiting Shop & Share (http://shopandshare.ph) will showcase bags owned by the mentioned celebrities.

Celebrities like Heart Evangelista, Sam Milby and Ruffa Guitierrez also committed to support the project by donating some of their treasured belongings. Angel and the other stars are going house to house to invite other celebrities to join the project.
The site also invites people to make their small contributions by donating through the Philippine Red Cross Paypal account. The full proceeds of the project will all go to the people who were affected by the typhoons.
I want to say that this is a project worth supporting. Stars coming together to do their share in rebuilding our nation. Now who says celebrities are just celebrities?
God Bless us all!
