Phil's mom friends with Angelabs-cbnNEWS.com Posted at 05/16/2011 8:50 PM | Updated as of 05/16/2011 8:51 PM
MANILA, Philippines – The rumored romance between Angel Locsin and Phil Younghusband could be getting deeper.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Younghusband said that he has introduced Locsin to his mother, Susan.
The Azkals striker said the 2 women in her life have become good friends adding, "My mom loves Angel. She really really likes her."
For Younghusband, Locsin being both "very down-to-earth" and "hardworking” might have charmed his mother.
Phil explains gifts
Younghusband also explained the meaning of the gifts he gave to Locsin last Sunday.
On showbiz talk show "The Buzz," Younghusband gave the actress a tumbler, a pillow, and a teddy bear, through host Charlene Gonzales.
The football player, who was not present in the show, said he gave Locsin the tumbler "so she’s always hydrated," the pillow if she "needs to sleep when she’s traveling," and the teddy bear "for someone to cuddle."
The gesture apparently caught Locsin off-guard.
The actress, who guested in "The Buzz" to promote her new movie “In the Name of Love,” later admitted in the show that she and Younghusband are exclusively dating.
She said that she must first have to know the British-Filipino better before the 2 get into something serious.
"Ayoko kasing magmadali talaga. Gusto kong i-enjoy ito. I'm 26 na, ayokong maglaro. Gusto kong maging sigurado. Ayokong masaktan. So, careful lang ako," Locsin said.
Younghusband has been very vocal in his courtship of Locsin ever since he asked the Kapamilya actress out on a Valentine’s Day date via social microblogging site Twitter. – With a report from Ginger Conejero, ABS-CBN News

Younghusband: I love being with Angelabs-cbnNEWS.com Posted at 05/16/2011 8:59 PM | Updated as of 05/16/2011 8:59 PM
MANILA, Philippines – Phil Younghusband has invited actress Angel Locsin to Azkals’ next game in Manila.
The Azkals team will face the footbal team from Sri Lanka on July 3 in Manila.
“I hope she comes,” Younghusband, an Azkals striker, told ANC’s “The Bottomline.”
The Filipino-British football player has made no effort at hiding his feelings for Locsin. For one, he asked her to be his Valentine's Day date over Twitter this year.
Obviously infatuated, Younghusband got smitten by the actress’ beauty and kindness.
“Sobrang mabait siya, she's matalino, sobrang civil. She’s amazing [and] very down to earth,” he said.
“I love being with Angel. I always look forward to seeing Angel. She’s sobrang busy. It’s hard to see her but I understand. I love being with her. I want to get to know her more, she wants to get to know me more,” he added.
When asked to dedicate one song for her, Younghusband sang lines from “Earth Angel.”

Charlene raves about Aga's performance DIRECTLINE By Boy Abunda (The Philippine Star) Updated May 16, 2011 12:00 AM Comments (0)
Charlene Gonzalez (with husband Aga Muhlach) loves the confrontation scene between him and his son played by Maliksi Morales | Zoom Charlene Gonzalez is mighty proud of her husband’s Aga Muhlach performance in the movie In The Name of Love and for good reason. The movie got a B rating from the Cinema Evaluation Board and it’s a certified hit earning P15M on its first day, and according to my neighbors, no one goes out of the theater with eyes dry. You will be moved even if the last time you cried was 15 years ago. Aga who has serious kissing scenes with leading lady Angel Locsin, delivered another award-winning performance. Charlene cried a river while watching the movie. “Simula pa lang, I was already crying. Direk Olive Lamasan did another masterpiece. Ang ganda ganda ng movie. Perfect. I am not saying this because my husband is there but it’s really one of the best movies I have seen.”
She loved Aga’s scenes with Emilio Garcia and Maliksi Morales who play his brother and son, respectively. “I love the confrontation scene. Yung eksena ni Aga and his son. But I don’t want to give away all the shining moments of the movie. I don’t want to spoil audience’s excitement. Basta from the beginning, to the middle to the end, mapapa-wow ka. Mas lalo kang maniniwala sa pag ibig,” she said.
Charlene said that she is not jealous of her husband kissing Angel. “It’s part of his work. The kissing scenes were beautifully done.”
She also said that she is very happy with the positive feedback on the movie. “They all worked hard. It was beautifully done.”

“Wala pa namang break-up.
Getting to know pa lang,” sagot ni Angel.
Trabaho daw ang prayoridad ni Angel.
Excited na rin si Angel na makakasama ang "In the Name of Love" para sa international screening sa Amerika. Gretchen Fullido, Patrol ng Pilipino

Angel and Phil spotted in Hong KongBy Reyma Buan-Deveza, abs-cbnNEWS.com Posted at 04/29/2011 3:40 PM | Updated as of 04/30/2011 11:55 AM
MANILA, Philippines - Actress Angel Locsin broke her silence on reports saying she was spotted with Azkals' heartthrob Phil Younghusband in Hong Kong last week.
In an interview during the party for Avon's 125th year, Locsin admitted that Younghusband followed her in Hong Kong for her birthday celebration.
"Yeah, he followed. Birthday ko," said Locsin who turned 26 last April 23.
The actress said she does not want to give any more details, stressing that what is important now is she's enjoying the time of her life.
"Ano ba ang sasabihin ko? Wala naman akong tinatago. Basta ako, masaya ako," Locsin told abs-cbnNEWS.com.
A reliable source who knows the couple said that Younghusband gave Locsin a Diane von Furstenberg bag for her birthday.
Pressed if she and Younghusband are now a couple, Locsin said, "Mahirap magsalita ngayon kasi baka ano ang sabihin ng tao.
The actress clarified, "No, no. Too soon pa.
Locsin also addressed reports saying she was again seen with the football player at St. Luke's Medical Center last Monday.
"Sa St. Luke's hospital? No. Last Monday, no. Definitely no kasi nasa taping ako. Monday, Wednesday, Friday ay 'Imortal' days. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday ay [nasa] shooting po ako [ng movie]," Locsin said.
Last February, Younghusband publicly asked Locsin via Twitter for a Valentine's date. Although the actress turned down the invite as she was busy that day, the two went out on a date after Valentine's Day.

Angel fans up against Marian
MARIAN Rivera is so far number one in the partial results of FHM’s poll for Sexiest Pinay and following her is Angel Locsin. Because of this, some fans of Angel are up in arms against her. What can Marian say about this?
“Wala,” she says. Napakabait niyang tao and I have nothing to say against her. Abangan nila ang ‘Temptation Island’ dahil doon, may sexy poses ako with the rest of the cast.”
Voting for the poll ends on June 15 yet so Angel’s supporters can work double time to support their idol.

Aga and Angel go the distance for loveBy CRISPINA MARTINEZ-BELENMay 12, 2011, 7:00am
Jake Cuenca, Angel Locsin, Olivia Lamasan, Aga Muhlach, and Enrico SantosMANILA, Philippines -- The stars of the film “In The Name of Love” (which opened yesterday in 100 theaters nationwide) was recently asked what are you willing to do in the name of love?
For Aga Muhlach, he said that he would be living and fighting for his family – wife Charlene and his twins Atasha and Andres.
Angel Locsin, who claimed that she is still single contrary to rumors of her rumored romance with football player Phil Younghusband, also said that she’d do everything for her family. But for a boyfriend, she said, “Pag mahal mo yung isang tao, wala ng tanong-tanong, wala ng isip-isip, lahat gagawin mo para sa taong mahal mo.”
Jake Cuenca echoed Angel’s statement.
On her part, Carmi Martin said, “Well, I’m still single. Many times I have proven na marami akong nalagpasan because masyado kong minahal yung taong I was with at that time.”
The film’s director, Olivia M. Lamasan, also answered the question. “Nasasagot siya kapag napagdaanan mo na. Then you can say what you were able to do in the name of love.”
The director said the film is not a dance movie since people might get that impression from the trailer. Writer Enrico Santos described it to be a film noir, which was challenging from the very beginning. “It was a big challenge for me and Enrico to turn a film noir material into something palatable for a broad market specifically the audience of Star Cinema,” she shared.
She described the plot to have an “unexpected story telling” because unorthodox serve the script well.
Aga prescribed, “Watch the movie not because of us, the stars in it. Watch the film because the film is very different and it’s a very good movie by Olivia Lamasan.”
“In The Name of Love” will also have its international premiere at the Alex Theater in Los Angeles on May 28 and Fox Theater in San Francisco on May 29

"Super happy ako for them."
"Thank you...salamat talaga.
"Thank you kasi, inaamin ko, mahirap talaga.
"Nahirapan talaga ko rito sa character ko rito, plus sa schedules and all.
"Salamat, maraming salamat.
"Yeah, nanood kami. Pinanood niya yung pelikula, 'tapos, I think, nag-tweet yata si Ate Kris about the movie, kung gaano kagaling si Aga Muhlach, si Jake na isang revelation nga naman sa pelikulang ito.
"Na-appreciate rin niya ang ginawa ko rito, so I'm very happy.
In the Name of Love.
THE OTHER MAN IN HER LIFE.
"Well, doon ako sa exclusively dating talaga.
"No, no, hindi pa. Masyado pang maaga.
Kilig-kilig."
Gusto ko munang i-enjoy 'to. Kilalanin siya.
"Kasi, I'm 26 na. Ayoko lang sigurong maglaro.
"Ayokong masaktan.
"Dear Angel, Congratulations on your movie. You did a great job. These gifts are for you in the name of love. Lots of love, Philly."
Phil."
Ang ikatlong gift naman ni Phil ay isang pillow to make sure raw that Angel is always comfortable.
Sa mismong paper bag isinulat ang note ng football player na, "Someone to cuddle you when I'm not there."
Dugtong niya, "First time na may gumawa sa akin noon.
"Hindi ko alam, e. I'm very thankful lang talaga do'n sa time, sa effort
Thank you, thank you."
Oh my god."
Ayon kay Charlene, nakaka-flatter when a man professes how much he loves you.
"Maraming salamat. Thank you, Phil."
Sa tagumpay na tinatamasa niya ngayon, what are the things she is most thankful for?
"Maraming bagay, Ate Charlene, e.
Maraming-maraming salamat pong talaga.
"Isa po kayong genius talaga.
"And Tita Malou [Santos], marami pong salamat talaga.
May pahabol pang tanong si Charlene kay Angel, ready raw ba itong i-give up ang lahat in the name of love?
Ang nakangiti namang sagot ni Angel, "In time..."

Angel does the ‘The New Asian Superstar’ Wednesday, May 11, 2011, 3:01 MALAYO NA ANG nilipad ng original Darna ng Siyete na si Angel Locsin matapos niyang lisanin ang bakuran ng istasyon at nakahanap ng mas magandang pugad sa Kapamilya Network. Nagbukas

He-he!

Some Azkals distracted by showbiz? FUNFARE UPDATE By Ricardo F. Lo The Philippine Star Updated May 18, 2011 12:00 AM 0 comment to this post
Angel Locsin and Phil Younghusband: Are they really going steady or just taking showbiz-watchers for a joyride? Zoom
A story in The STAR’s Sports section yesterday should serve as an eye-opener for some Azkals who are “distracted” from training for the FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifier match with Sri Lanka in June and July.
Writer Olmin Leyba mentioned that Azkals coach Michael Weiss lamented how tired most of the players are “due to a number of things, from commitments to clubs and other ongoing competitions, to other non-football stuff,” with some of the more popular ones “moonlighting in product endorsements and modeling.”
And, I should add, being, as a venerable sports writer put it, “showbiz na showbiz.”
Without naming names, he was obviously referring to Phil Younghusband who is savoring his second wind in showbiz in which he was already “burned” during his first venture into it when he cried unabashedly on national television when he lost in the GMA “talent” search Celebrity Duets and parted with his manager Joyce Ramirez under unsavory circumstances.
The cramps that he’s reportedly suffering from hasn’t seemed to stop showbiz-crazy Phil from hogging the showbiz limelight which he shares with a ready-and-willing-and-able Angel Locsin who continues to insist that she’s “happily single” even if Phil insists that they are “exclusively dating.” Now, who between the two should the public believe? Are they perhaps taking us gullible showbiz-watchers for a joyride?
“Football is getting to be popular in the Philippines only now at sayang naman kung mabubulilyaso pa,” added the sports writer, adding that Phil (singled out because he’s the one who is “showbiz na showbiz”) should concentrate on football like his brother James “who is focused on the game. Maybe Phil is enjoying his new-found popularity because it’s profitable. I heard that, thanks to his ‘showbiz connection,’ he’s now charging a sizeable amount per personal appearance.”
Well and good. Make hay while the sun shines.
“But he and some of the other Azkals should take care of football because that’s the source of whatever perks they are enjoying now,” advised the sports writer.
Come to think of it, maybe Angelica Panganiban was right after all when she gave Phil Younghusband the unsolicited but friendly advice to lie low from showbiz and focus on football

Why hubby wanted to meet Angel Locsin by Angel Locsin on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 11:32pm By Lea Salonga No histrionics “In the Name of Love” was set in two different spaces of time, place and emotion. I can’t write more without giving the whole plot away, except to say that there are elements of corruption, violence, exploitation, prostitution, love lost, love found and sacrifice. The film, directed by Olivia M. Lamasan from a story by Enrico Santos, was beautifully shot (thanks to director of photography Herman Claraval) and beautifully acted. The entire cast, from lead to bit player, kept away from the histrionics normally associated with local film fare, opting instead for more subtle and low key portrayals. Aga Muhlach, a bit heftier than he has been in the past (which could, in the long run, be more of a boon than a bane), reveals much through his trademark dark eyes, those pools reflecting more pain in one look than if he screamed his laments at maximum decibel levels. Angel Locsin is particularly impressive, giving a performance of remarkable restraint and emotional depth, while still keeping a firm hold on the truth of her character’s sufferings. Jake Cuenca is also a revelation here, going beyond his matinee-idol good looks. The entire supporting cast (Dante Rivero, Michael Flores, Kat Alano, Carmi Martin, Joshua Zamora and many more) are all in top form. I often found myself at the edge of my seat because of the more suspenseful bits. I’m also tickled pink that my brother’s arrangement of “Love Story,” performed by GaryValenciano, was the underscoring for what I would consider one of the most tastefully shot and choreographed love scenes I’ve ever seen. It was hot, too. Congratulations, Star Cinema and “In the Name of Love’s” cast and crew. Oh, and Angel, you made a fan out of my husband—you were the only star he wanted to meet at the premiere.

Olive Lamasan has nothing but praises for Aga Muhlach, Angel Locsin and Jake Cuenca by Angel Locsin on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 4:16pm By Rhea Manila Santos Proud to be at the helm of Star Cinema’s 18th anniversary offering In The Name of Love, Director Olivia Lamasan shares how it feels to be part of a movie project that had a very unorthodox storyline. “I feel very honored na yung pelikulang ginawa ko ang naging anniversary offering ng Star Cinema. One thing that got me interested in the script is the unexpected way of storytelling. Unexpected ang kanyang structure. It was a challenge for us to be able to tell a story and engage the audience na despite na unusual yung structure, engaging pa rin sa manonood. Kasi the film poses a question eh, how far will you go for the person you love or how far will you go in the name of love? During the course of this movie, we tried to answer that question and I realized na di ko siya masagot verbally. It’s something that happens, it’s something that’s not said,” she shares. The writer-director, who was also responsible for memorable films like Sana Maulit Muli, Madrasta, Got 2 Believe and Milan had nothing but praises for In The Name of Love’s lead stars Aga Muhlach, Angel Locsin and Jake Cuenca. “I’m so proud of them. We did this movie for more than a year. Grabe iyung pinagdaanan naming difficulties. But at the end, I’m so fulfilled and I’m so happy and proud of the performances, kung paano sila nag-evolve as actors,” she says. Direk Olive also admits that she was also pressured to perform well after seeing how professional her cast performed on and off set. “Matalino silang artista. Kailangan your on your toes kasi nandito ka bilang director to guide them. You also have to be sensitive kung paano nila nakikita characters nila. I believe in collaboration. I really entertain that. In fact, I encourage na magbigay sila ng insights sa characters nila,” she explains. Direk Olive also applauds Angel for her dedication to her role. “Si Angel talaga masipag na artista. She would read, ask questions and do research on her own. Sa huli, parang nabuhay si Cedes. Parang siya na si Cedes,” she adds. Direk Olive was also pleasantly surprised at how Jake worked since it was her first time to work with the young actor as his director. “It was great. I’m so proud of Jake! You should see him. We would study the character together. I would ask him about his character and we discuss it. We did a lot of research. Ilang beses kami umupo ni Jake para ma-discuss yung character niya,” she recalls. Direk sums up her working experience on In The Name of Love as one big collaborative effort that was everybody’s own little labor of love. She adds that it was worth working on the project for such a long time. “One thing that makes it worth it is yung realization ng vision mo as director. Na na-achieve mo iyun. Na na-achieve niyo yun together. I was very, very lucky to work with brilliant men in this industry. Young ones, old ones, our writer Enrico Santos and his brilliant ideas. I’m also very lucky to work with a very young director of photography na si German Claravall. Ang galing ng ilaw niya. The lead stars Aga, Angel, and Jake also gave their best. They were able to evolve as actors. Fulfillment na sa akin iyon,” she says. Catch In The Name of Love in 150 theaters nationwide and catch the international premieres on May 28 at the Alex Theatre, Los Angeles and May 29 at the Fox Theatre, San Francisco.
