[News] SS501 to Release Mini-album in KoreaCopyright: KBS World Original Source: english.kbs.co.kr/Entertain/EntertainmentNews/view.html?No=7171Please repost with full credit. The five-member boy band SS501, which has been holding its first Asia tour entitled "Persona" since its debut in 2005, will release a mini-album in Korea late this month. Entitled "Rebirth," it's the first album to feature all five members in a year and seven months. After performing in Korea and Japan in August, SS501 finally visited Taiwan to perform at the Taipei Arena. Kim Hyun-joong, who came down with swine flu in September during his stay in Japan, said his swine flu symptoms included a fever of over 39.5℃, diarrhea six to seven times a day, and coughs 4-5 times a minute. Kim said, "It's like the worst degree of a cold. The most difficult part was being isolated. It's a very lonesome disease." He added that he was scared to see other swine flu patients who were hospitalized on the same floor with him dying of the disease. "I believed that I would recover," said the singer. Following the chat about his swine flu experience, Kim went on to discuss the group's popularity in Taiwan. SS501 received a very warm welcome from its Taiwanese fans. The group held its first fan meeting in Taiwan in June, but it is SS501's first concert in that country. Five albums from SS501 that were released in Taiwan in July sold more than 100,000 copies in just three months, earning SS501 the White Gold Disc from the Taiwanese album distributor. Taiwanese dailies covered SS501's arrival to Taiwan. One of them wrote that some 600 fans welcomed the group at the airport and were concerned to see Kim Hyun-joong looking emaciated after falling ill. The daily also added that SS501 was welcomed by 1,500 fans back in June when it visited the country for a fan meeting. As was expected, SS501's concert in Taiwan was sold out. The group members said, "We rented a rehearsal room on the day of our arrival and rehearsed till midnight. The next day we held a news conference and rehearsed again from 3PM till midnight. We wanted to make everything perfect because the stage was different from Korea and Japan." The repertoire of SS501's Asia tour concerts includes songs from its new mini-album. Its jacket features the name Steven Lee, who wrote all the songs. He is a Korean-American producer who also wrote for the popular German group US5 and top Japanese groups KAT-TUN and Arashi. The renowned music engineer Ken Lewis, who also worked with Usher and John Legend, took care of mixing, why choreographer AJ, who used to choreograph for Michael Jackson and Usher, created SS501's new dances. Kim said, "Our new songs including the title song 'Love Like This' are pop-style numbers. We had many discussions with Steven Lee to come up with pop songs that appeal to the Korean public. This album is very special to us because it reflects our opinions. We wanted to create our own unique style while the K-pop scene was dominated by 'hook songs.' Rather than following trends, we wanted to set new trends." Due to a number of problems, the album release was postponed by two months. The song that the group received from a music dealer to be used as a title song was found to have already been released overseas. To make things worse, the dealer turned out to have no right to sell the song and just wanted to reap profits. Kim said, "The song that we heard on a plane on our way from Japan was identical to the song that we were to release soon. We notified our agency and realized that we had been duped by the dealer. Had we released that song, we would have been accused of plagiarism." The new album contains five songs. The lyrics of one of them were written personally by the members for their fans. Kim Hyun-joong wrote the lyrics for the song "Obsess". The special edition of the album sold more than 30,000 copies on the day of its release; 20,000 additional copies are to be released soon in 10 countries. The five members finally got together after being active solo for a long time. Kim Hyun-joong appeared in the TV drama "Boys Over Flowers," Park Jung-min acted in the musical "Grease," and Heo Young-saeng, Kim Hyung-joon and Kim Kyu-jong were active with the hit song "U R Man." This time, all five are determined to stay together for as long as possible. SS501 will perform in Shanghai in November before it flies to Hong Kong in December and visits Thailand and Malaysia in January. In February, the group will perform in Singapore and Beijing. "We realize that the U.S. music market is hard to succeed in. We want to lay a springboard in Asia before we advance into the Middle East, Africa and the U.S.," said the SS501 members.

[News] SS501 raked in NT$30m from Concert

SS501 Started Concert Masked in Gold Mystery Performance Drew NT$30,000,000 & Drove 10,000 Fans To a Frenzy
South Korean idol group SS501 shed their flower boys' image and opened their performance at their first-ever concert in Taipei in military-inspired costumes last night, and sent more than 10,000 fans into a frenzy.
Kim Hyun Joong Ripped Top, Showed Chest Muscles
SS501 made their debut four years ago, and started to gain popularity in Taiwan due to leader Kim Hyun Joong's role in the Korean version of the Meteor Garden drama.
Their first concert in Taiwan attracted over 10,000 fans, and the tickets to the two-hour long concert raked in as much as NT$30,000,000. (approx. US$900,000 or S$1.3m)
At the concert last night, the five of them opened the show in military-inspired costume and sang performed Deja Vu.
Fans waved green lightsticks enthusiastically and screams were resounding throughout the arena non-stop.
For the second song, Unlock, the members appeared in gold masks. When they removed the masks and walked to the centre of the stage, that ignited another round of explosive action and brought the concert to another high.
Direction & Traffic Flow Chaotic & Confusing Leaving Taiwan in the Afternoon
Other than group performance, the five members also had their solo items. Park Jung Min's Tian-Mi-Mi (甜蜜蜜) played to the fans' hearts. Kim Hyun Joong even ripped his top and showed his chest muscles during his solo item, Please Be Good to Me, causing the fans to lapse into total frenzy.
As tickets to the SS501 concert were very high in demand, the traffic flow when the fans were entering the venue was chaotic at one point. The main organizing unit, Broker Brothers Herald, expressed that this was because just three days before the concert, the Taipei Arena management made a sudden request to widen the safety buffer passageway at the standing section.
Standing section B had to be reduced by one metre, which was equivalent to the capacity of 80 standing fans.
As an emergency measure, they could only quickly arranged for some of the fans from the standing section to the media and VIP sections.
After the concert, SS501 will be taking the Asiana Airlines 2:35pm flight OZ712 to depart from Taiwan, and will then busy themselves with the promotional activities for their latest mini album.

[news] 10/19 SS501 returns to Korea from Taiwan, 1000 fans sent them off at the airportCredit: Chinatimes.com + Yahoo.com.tw + (English translation) Feissy@Quainte501.com Please repost with full credit. Do not hotlink graphicsSS501 "Lacking of 1 member", 1000 fans sent them off at Taiwan aiport SS501 returned to Korea on 18 October (Sunday) with 1000 fans swarming the airport to send them off, including 60 Korean, Japanese and Hong Kong fans who crossed the immigration gates with them. Some Korean fans even took the same plane with them back to Korea. But SS501 was "lacking of 1 member", with Kim Hyun Joong having gone back to Seoul earlier due to work. After the concert on 17 October, SS501 and their staff headed to "Longevity" Korean Restaurant to celebrate the successful completion of the concert. All members of SS501 gave the Taiwanese fans 100 marks (for their enthusiasm). They also 'lifted the ban on alcohol' and were offering toasts all around. Member Park Jung Min was so high (on alcohol) that he sang "Tian Mi Mi" again (the mandarin song he sang at the concert) to thank the staff. Following the Taiwan concert, they will be heading to places like Hong Kong for more concert performances. Leader Kim Hyun Joong returned to Seoul at 5 a.m. on 18 October due to work commitments. Many fans realized the "Lacking of 1" situation and thought that Kim Hyun Joong decided to remain in Taiwan for holiday. The moment SS501 arrived at the airport, screams of fans resounded the whole area. Their body guards, reporters and fans were involved in a lot of pushing and shoving. The fans pushed their way through and to give presents to SS501, even their managers' hands were filled with gifts, many fans risked falling just to catch another glimpse of their idols. SS501's departure at the airport was like a red carpet event with fans surrounding them on both sides. Though it was difficult of them to move with the crowd, they still turned to waved goodbye to their fans before leaving.

SS501’s Rebirth Is Explosive
The SS501 boys are back! From Hyun Joong's Boys Over Flowers glory, to Triple-S (three members of SS501), to the other members pursuing other projects like acting, the boys have finally returned, as a full group.
It didn't take long for the album to be praised and loved, as soon as the album was released, fans and listeners quickly picked it up. The response has been explosive, fans and critics alike were surprised by the artistic quality of the album, re-establishing SS501's image as serious musicians as they come together for their comeback. Already, Netizens have praised the album by saying "The wait was worth every single moment" and that "There isn't a single song on the album that's bad." Currently, the album is on the list for most searched term on portal sites such as Naver and Daum.
According to a representative of DSP Entertainment, the reason why the album is having much initial success is that they have hired various famous song writers as well as highly regarded Korean American producer Steven Lee from Hollywood, California to produce the album. Steven Lee is renowned for winning 15 Japan Golden Disc Awards as well as producing many number one artists in Korea (TVXQ, Rain, and Super Junior) and Japan (KAT-KUN, V6, and Do As Infinity). SS501's lead single, Love Like This, was requested by many other recording artists to use as a track for their own use. However, SS501 was lucky enough to get the track. Ken Lewis, who is famous for working with artists such as Usher, Kanye West, and John Legend, was in charge of mixing the songs.
With all this talent working on the album, one can see why it's getting a lot of buzz at the moment.

update from jharules of pex in KHJ threadHi guys, I happened to pass by Megamall a few hours ago and out of curiousity, I went to Odyssey to inquire about SS501 CDs. According to the staff, there was no definite date given to them but she is aware that one of the F4 guys who is a member of a band will be releasing an album here in the Phils. She asked me about my contact number and she told me that she will immediately tell me if there's any update. According to her, they'll be having a meeting on Thursday and she will bring up that topic to the management. Hopefully, that "band" is SS501 since I mentioned her Warner Music Phils.Congratulations to SS501 esp to our Leader for a successful PERSONA in Taiwan. Hopefully, time will come that will be able to read something about PERSONA in MANILA. OMG! Love it. ^^
