Angel Locsin is a Stunner in the 37th International Emmy Awards Red Carpet
November 24, 2009 by cd starmometer
She may have lost the Best Actress trophy to Julie Walters but our very own Angel Locsin is the winner on the red carpet.
Philippine superstar Angel Locsin graced the red carpet of the 37th International Emmy Awards which was held in Hilton New York for being nominated in the Best Actress category for her performance in the ABS-CBN fantaserye “Lobo” (The Wolf).
Unfortunately, Angel lost the trophy to England’s Julie Walters for the latter’s performance in A Short Stay in Switzerland. Walters is best known as Mrs. Weasley in the Harry Potter films and was also part of the musical movie Mamma Mia!.
Although she lost, Angel was said to be the most photographed celebrity of the night, the most cheered by fans and the Paparazzis adored her.
Here are some tweets from fans who were able to witness the event:
“THe EMMY staff were so excited….they were asking who the people were waiting for since there were a lot of fans waiting for GEL. Parang it’s the first time that they saw this ….Pati mga Americans were wondering who we were waiting for and they were waiting to see who the fans were waiting for din” – PinkBite
“Angel Locsin may not have won the best actress Emmy but she worked the red carpet and the Paparazzis adored her… Def Star of the Night” – Don Tagala
“She is the most photographed celebrity of the night and most cheered. When people came in they would say…’You’re waiting for the girl in the white gown right?’” – Pinkbite
“It was a relaxed atmosphere before GEL arrived…then when she came out of the limo…nagkakaguluhan na daw and SECURITY came out and blocked people so GEL can ENTER the RED CARPET…” – PinkBite
“I couldn’t get a good shot of gel since people were pushing and crowding around us….and Everyone wanted to get a shot of gel. I heard people saying..OH angel..the young one ..the pretty one!” – Pinkbite

Angel Locsin is the second Filipino actress to be nominated in the best actress category in the International Emmy; the first was Tessie Tomas for her role as Imelda Marcos in 1989’s “A Dangerous Life.” Update: Angel Locsin failed to grab the Best Actress award but she proved herself to be a head turner during the red carpet pictorials.

Entertainment My 15 most memorable TV interviews STAR BYTES By Butch Francisco (The Philippine Star) Updated November 26, 2009 12:00 AM Former lovers Oyo Sotto and Angel Locsin (Third of a series)
This is the third installment of the series of articles on my 15 most memorable TV interviews to mark Startalk’s 15th year on television.
Interview with the general — It’s just too bad I don’t recall the general’s name anymore, but he was already there during the early phase of the investigation of the Nida Blanca slaying.
I recall it was around 9 a.m. of Nov. 7, 2001 when our building manager woke me up by calling my landline. He told me that Ms. Blanca was found dead in nearby Atlanta building. I was still so sleepy that time that nothing registered in my head. Before I could even put the phone down, I got a call on the intercom from the lobby to tell me that Startalk executive producer Kokoy Boncan was downstairs telling me to dress up and come down. Like most other Filipinos who can never leave the house without bathing first, I took a quick shower and dressed up.
I went out of the building still dazed and mechanically hopped into the Startalk vehicle. In three minutes we were in Atlanta where I saw Jiggy Manicad who told me that they are no longer allowing people to go upstairs.
Among all the executive producers I’ve worked with, Kokoy is the most exacting (but I love him and even his mother dearly to this day and I learned a lot from him). He instructed me to find a way to go to the MTRCB office on the 33rd floor (Nida was an MTRCB member at the time of her death). Left with no other choice, I bravely walked to the lobby guard, told him I was with the MTRCB and flashed a tiny rectangular piece of plastic so close to his eyes that he was unable to figure out that it was just my Rustan’s discount card.
When the guard gave me the go signal to proceed upstairs, I made a dash to the elevator and grabbed Kokoy by the hand when nobody was looking. The cameraman tried to follow but he got caught and was left behind.
At the MTRCB office, there was no one to talk to. Former vice chair June Keithley was there (we weren’t friends yet), but she told me that there was nothing she could say. I then sat down in the visitors’ lounge looking bored and Kokoy approached me to say that: “I am so disappointed with you! This is a big story and you are not showing any interest.”
When he was done with his aria, I told him to listen to mine. Sounding like the jaded journalist that I already was even then, I retorted: “Look, it’s only a Wednesday. Our show doesn’t come around till Saturday. If I do an interview now, I don’t think that would still be relevant when we air three days later because there will be new developments every 30 minutes.”
After I said my piece, the general walks in and I cornered him. He was very polite, but he couldn’t resist asking me: “How did you get up here?” I wanted to be smart-alecky by saying: “Very carefully, sir,” but I was afraid he’d have me arrested.
When the general said he was going down to the lobby, we called up our cameraman to be on standby because I was going to do an ambush interview on him. As soon as we had the camera, I was relentless and squeezed out everything I could from the general. But as I predicted, by the time Startalk aired that Saturday, we had to throw away that interview because it had become stale.
Governor Rudy Fariñas — Less than two weeks after Nida’s death, Ma. Teresa Carlson leapt to her death in another building along Annapolis. In that Saturday’s edition of Startalk, naughty, naughty Rosanna Roces made a remark that didn’t sit well with Fariñas and he made it known that he wasn’t pleased with the comment.
The problem was that I was covering the funeral live in Laoag a week later and I had to interview Fariñas. The staff that went there ahead of me didn’t identify themselves as the crew from Startalk, but I couldn’t do that.
Drawing moral support from Jay Taruc who was there to cover for news, I bravely approached the governor, who — to my surprise — turned out to be most amiable. When I asked for the interview, he said that he was granting it after dinner and invited me to the dining hall. Since I was feeling uncomfortable, I ate fast (and very little) and — feeling so ill at ease — I swallowed half a prawn without chewing it, shell, tail and all.
Surviving what I thought was already my Last Supper, we finally sat down for the interview. My fear turned out to be baseless because Fariñas was so friendly and most gentlemanly in his ways. I’ll never forget him for his kindness.
After the funeral, I thanked him and said goodbye. However, I can never forget his last words to me: “Please tell Osang, I’m now available.” Of course, he was joking and we had a good laugh over that one.
Angel Locsin — The day before Dec. 28, 2006, Dr. Vicki Belo called me up asking if I could cover the pictorial of Angel as the latest Belo endorser. I said sure — I would request for a crew to come over. Wasn’t I going there myself? No, I was hosting dinner at my house that evening — sorry.
But somewhere along the way, I got a tip that Angel and Oyo Sotto had split up and no one in media knew about it yet. To Vicki’s surprise, I joined the crew and she had to send out for pizza because she had always known I’m always hungry.
It wasn’t only Dr. Belo who was surprised by my sudden decision to cover the shoot myself. Even the staff was wondering why — when it was something they themselves could have done.
They were even more puzzled when I scheduled Startalk to do the last interview despite the fact that we were among the first to get there. And so TV Patrol and The Buzz came in and they got their interview and so did the now-defunct S-Files. In between, I was making calls to people to get more info regarding the breakup. I talked to Malou Fagar, Oyo’s manager, to ask about her ward and Angel’s trip to Boracay. Malou was clueless regarding the split and was wondering why I was all of a sudden interested in the Boracay trip. In the end, I was able to extract the info that Oyo went without Angel to Boracay. Till we said our goodbyes, Malou still didn’t have any idea why I was asking all those questions (sorry, Malou!).
When it was finally my turn to talk to Angel on-cam, the 24 Oras crew arrived and I let them go first — and my own staff was starting to get annoyed with me. They weren’t only the ones getting impatient because back in my house, hungry dinner guests were already piling up and the host was nowhere to be found.
Then it was just Angel and Startalk. After asking her about being a Belo endorser and all that, I made her confess the truth about the status of her relationship with Oyo. And then tears rolled down her cheeks. I swear it was painful for me to see her crying (I’ve always been fond of her), but it was a job I had to do.
At one point, her manager Becky Aguila tried to interfere (I didn’t take that against her because that was also her job) and started telling me: “You shouldn’t make your guest cry.” I was deaf to all that — until she started stomping her foot and dropped items on the floor to distract me, but I prayed hard to be able to keep my focus. In the end, Angel admitted the fact that she and Oyo had truly split up and she was a mess after the interview.
Up to this day, I still have guilt feelings about that interview. But if I didn’t do that, somebody else would have beaten me to it. This is a cruel business and I’m not saying it is right, but you have to do everything all for an exclusive and a scoop

Stylish duo know how to sharewww.malaya.com.ph/11262009/ent5.htmlTHEY’RE gorgeous and glamorous movie stars but apart from that, Angel Locsin and Anne Curtis prove that they are more than just pretty faces. The two have partnered to create Shop and Share (Shopandshare.ph), a website where celebrity stuff are auctioned off for the benefit of recent calamities which caused great destruction and fatalities to millions in the country. Shop and Share, in partnership with eBay.ph, was recently launched in a special event featuring a wide array of pre-owned bags, clothes and fashion accessories, along with various memorabilia that shall be auctioned off on eBay. Angel and Anne, together with Philippine Red Cross Governors Dennis Mendiola and Joanne Zapanta-Andrada, Red Cross Secretary General Gwen Pang and web commerce experts Lester Villarama and Eireen Diokno-Bernardo were in attendance at the launch at the Sining Kamalig Art Gallery at Gateway Mall. A great sense of urgency to raise funds for the victims of ONdoy and Pepeng was the driving force behind the project. The idea is for celebrities to help not just by contributing monetary aid but also giving up some of their prized collections. And the stars did not disappoint. Shop and Share has sold over P700,000 barely a month after it started. Among the first celebrities who have supported the endeavor and contributed their personal belongings are Ruffa Gutierrez, Kris Aquino, Kim Chiu, Maxene Magalona, Marian Rivera, Dingdong Dantes, Piolo Pascual, John Lloyd Cruz, Pokwang, Luis Manzano, Ogie Alcasid and true-to-life Ondoy hero Gerald Anderson. Some of the items up for auction are Kris’ designer bags, Pacman’s autographed shoes, Ogie’s Gundam Robot and Angel’s Darna statuette. One hundred percent of the net sales proceeds will be donated to the Philippine Red Cross. Aside from allocating funds for relief, the Red Cross plans to use the proceeds for rehabilitation works, including the rebuilding of houses and installation of livelihood programs.

Dingdong is everywhere THE year may be ending but Dingdong Dantes shows no signs of slowing down.
Starting Monday, the actor will be seen on primetime twice weeknights, as Cholo in "Stairway to Heaven" and as the new host of "Family Feud," replacing Richard Gomez who has taken a leave to prepare for his bid for Leyte congressman.
Beginning November 30, Dingdong steps as the game master of "Family Feud" bringing a brand-new level of excitement and thrill on the No. 1 game show that has endeared and captivated the hearts of families time and again.
Hosting is nothing new to Dingdong as he is an original host of "Starstruck" and was supposed to host the fifth season of the artista search until "Family Feud" was offered to him. Dennis Trillo takes Dingdong’s place.
"First love ko naman talaga ang hosting," Dingdong admitted, "So talagang babalik ako dito."
This milestone in his career further displays his versatility. Lest people forget, Dingdong also directs, and in the past did "Kakabakaba" on TV and one of the stories in the trilogy "Angels," which was produced by Angel Locsin. But he first was noticed as part of the all-male Abztract dancers.
In "Family Feud," viewers should look forward to the magnetic charm and appeal of the third sexiest man of the world as he interacts and jokes around with the contestants and studio audiences
"Stairway to Heaven," meanwhile, continues to enjoy high ratings in the high 20s as Cholo and Jodi’s (Rhian Ramos) romance keeps its audience enthralled.
Last Sunday, Dingdong and several youth leaders, including Bagong Henerasyon founder Bernadette Herrera-Dy launched Ayos Na! (Advocates of Youth and Students for Noynoy Aquino) at the Risen Garden of the Quezon City Hall.
Brothers Jonty and Jiggy Cruz and their cousin Kiko Dee, grandchildren of Ninoy and Cory Aquino, came as representatives of their family. Valenzuela Councilor Shalani Soledad, the girlfriend of Senator Noynoy Aquino, was also present.
Dingdong led a mass swearing in of close to 5000 new members of the group.
"This is an advocacy so regardless of age, religious beliefs or status in life, puwedeng sumali," he said. "Our target is to have 500,000 members so we will be going around the country to introduce the advocacy and enjoin more people."
The youth idol denies that he has any political plans.
"Hindi naman registered and Ayos Na and I have my own foundation, Yes Pinoy, which is a partner of Ayos Na," he explained. "Tsaka mas gusto ko relax lang."
He is throwing his support on Noynoy Aquino sans any compensation because he believes in the presidential candidate’s integrity.
"The Aquino family brought out the best in me at naniniwala ako sa kalinisan ng kanyang intensyon," he said. "Kuya Noynoy is a symbol of hope and change and I believe he has good intensions for the country."
Next year, expect to see more of Dingdong as he revealed that his wish is to continue with the projects his group has lined up.
"Gusto ko maging successful and activities ng foundation kasi marami kaming naka line up na projects next year," he said.

www.manilastandardtoday.com/insideEntertainment.htm?f=2009/november/26/entertainment1.isx&d=/2009/november/26by Joseph Peter R. Conzalez No filthy rich boyfriend Angel Locsin cries foul on the issue that, allegedly, she has a filthy rich boyfriend who gave her P100 million. “I’m challenging the person who started the rumor to bring out proofs. If found guilty, I’m willing to give away my properties!” she states. “I’ve been in show business for a considerable length of time now. I was able to save money and put it in good investment over the years. I also bought some properties out of my earnings. I’ve been working so hard for years so I think it’s not impossible if I have money. And one more thing, I don’t live an extravagant lifestyle like going to big parties or indulging in a shopping spree. I’m also not fond of buying things just for the sake of having it. My weakness is, well, cars. It’s the only thing that would make me spend that much,” she reveals. Angel reportedly bought a building worth P15 million and the lot next to her house where she thought she could build a swimming pool that would have her coughing up P5 million more. “It’s true that I bought a building but it’s just a four-story affair... I saw a potential in it. I intend to convert the penthouse into a restaurant-bar. But definitely, it’s not as costly as what had been reported. And the lot, I plan to extend our house that’s why I bought it. I don’t see anything wrong with that. When it comes to the swimming pool, I really intend to have one since it’s no secret that I’m a swimmer. I’m a water person so having a pool in the house is surely a great idea. Again, the worth is not as big as what was reported. Hope this clears everything,” says Angel.

"If you look at her track record, it's true naman na wala talaga siyang binalikan sa mga naging ex niya. But in life, in general, huwag tayong magsasalita ng tapos. Hindi ko siya pinaparinggan or anything, but, di ba, we never know what will happen? "Basta ngayon, masasabi kong mas nag-mature kami, mas nag-mature kami on how we are as individuals. Let's say, hypothetically, nagkabalikan kami, we'd be totally different individuals in a good way," saad niya. Ano naman ang reaksiyon niya sa sinabi noon ni Angel na nami-miss niya ang pinagsamahan nila, pero hindi si Luis mismo? "Siguro nung nasabi niya yun, that was before yung mga naging usapan namin, when we decided to clarify kung anuman ang mga nangyari. Yun siguro what's behind her statement." Pero inamin ni Luis sa PEP na bukas na uli ang komunikasyon nila ni Angel, at nakausap na rin niya ang ama ng aktres na si Mr. Angel Colmenares. "We talked. Siguro we made the first step para maayos na namin kung anuman ang mayroon kami dati. Siguro ngayon, we have a steady phase na maayos kung nasaan kami ngayon. We're very, very happy. "Nakapag-usap na rin kami ni Tito [Mr. Colmenares]. Nope, walang sumbatang nangyari, hindi ganun si Tito at hindi ko rin magagawa yun sa kanya. Tito is a very, very decent man. Nakapag-usap na kami and okey naman. Napakataas ng respeto ko kay Tito at sa buong pamilya ni Angel, at ganun din ang ipinakita sa akin ni Tito when we had a talk," lahad ni Luis. NO THIRD PARTY. "Si Maricar, first time na nakita ko siya at nakausap nang harap-harapan was the camera test ng Flash Bomba almost a year ago. Kasi siya dapat ang love team ko sa Flash Bomba. "Next time ko na siyang nakausap was Star Magic Ball na itong huli [last August]. Would you imagine yung pagitan nun? I won't deny that Maricar is a friend, yes, I got to talk her but nothing weird or special. "I know they are both good people," sabi ni Luis. "Napakabait ni Angel. Hindi puwedeng kuwestyunin yun, alam ng buong bayan yun. At napakabait din ni Lloydie. If things are meant to happen, things are meant to happen. If not, hindi siya mangyayari. "More of mawi-weirduhan siguro ako. Kasi, kumbaga, yung ex-girlfriend ko, tapos bigla na lang yung 'ex-love team' ko na si Lloydie na Kanto Boys. It's gonna be weird. Pero siguro kahit papaano, hindi mo matatanggal na ma-hurt ako pag nangyari yun. But of course, you have to understand things happen for a reason, the same way things don't happen for a reason." "Ex-love team" ang turing ni Luis kay John Lloyd dahil sa pelikulang In My Life, kung saan gumanap sila bilang gay lovers. FAMILY OF STARS AND POLITICIANS. (CLICK HERE to read related story.) "Nagulat ako nung malaman ko na tatakbo siya," sabi ni Luis. "When everything happened, I was in Las Vegas. Hanggang sa umabot nga sa akin yung balita na tumakbo siya. Nung una, hindi pa ako naniwala. But I know what he is capable of doing. I know yung pagkatao niya, his integrity as a person, and his capability of helping other people if he's given a position in the government. I have faith in my dad whether for vice president, for senator, or kung ano pa man," pahayag ni Luis. (CLICK HERE to read related story.) "Matagal-tagal na sila," sabi ni Luis. "Kung anuman ang naging problema, sana maayos nila 'cause I guess as a couple, they've been through a lot talaga. Hindi ko alam kung totoo na kaya sila nag-break is because of that, not until I heard from them. I don't want to speculate kasi medyo it's a personal matter. Until I heard talaga from daddy or kay Pinky, di muna ako magko-comment." "But kidding aside, not yet. Maybe next election, but definitely not now kasi marami pa akong dapat gawin sa industriya. Let's see, I'll just cross the bridge when I get there. Kumbaga, hindi ko isinasara ang pinto ko sa pulitika."

Hindi nakita sa video na ipinalabas ang mga nagkakagulo kay Angel. Nakakagulo ang maling balita. MY COMMENT Nakakagulo ang maling balita ng SEEN SCENE kasi obvious na tamad ang writer at di marunong mag research. What happened to cross verification before reporting a news in a broadsheet? Paki review code of ethics ng responsible reporting as a journalist. Let me tell you how to do it properly writer of SEEN SCENE who hide behind this section and scared to let people know his/her own identity: 1. Know the place. See this pix to educate yourself: 2. Interview the people who actually witness the event. Find it difficult to do that? Use your resourcefulness man. Nasa twitter mga tweets. Visit also the GELO thread at www.pinoyexchange.com3. Check your video again. Know the term "read between the lines"? If you can't still get it, you're hopeless.

Actress Angel Locsin, who shined in the red carpet in her white fully-sequinned dress and Emmy's medal, lost to Julie Walters (who appeared in the popular “Harry Potter” movies). Angel was nominated in the Best Actress category for her role as a she-wolf in the ABS-CBN series “Ang Lobo”. The actress is only the second Filipino (the first one being Tessie Tomas) to be nominated to the prestigious International Emmy Awards which aims to recognise outstanding performances and production for television shows outside the United States. The country also failed to grab the medal for the Best Drama Series category despite having two (ABS-CBN's “Kahit Isang Saglit” and GMA's “Magdusa Ka”) out of four nominees for the award. “Kahit Isang Saglit” starred Jericho Rosales and Malaysian actress Carmen Soo (who also attended the event with Angel), while “Magdusa Ka” was headlined by Dennis Trillo and Katrina Halili. Both Filipino productions lost to Denmark's “The Protectors”. [nicky's comment: Brazil won in the telenovela category with "India - A Love Story"]

Wednesday, November 25, 2009 Claudine Barretto is now a Kapuso! I was shocked when I've read that Claudine Barretto has finally transferred to GMA, the kapuso network. She has been with ABS-CBN since she started acting, that was like 17 years ago. I still remembered when there was this first issue regarding her transfer way back. She said she couldn't imagine herself transferring to any other station. And now what? She just did. And it was so sudden! The news wasn't flattering...for Claudine. And it wasn't a flattering decision for both. When Ai-Ai delas Alas was about to make a move to transfer to GMA, the top execs of ABS did all what they can to stop her and offered her TV series so she would remain as one of their top talents. But there are no words yet as to why they came up with that decision with Claudine. ABS-CBN just let her go. It wasn't amicable I supposed since everything was abrupt. I was still in the state of waiting her new soap with her sister Gretchen. Of course, I doubt if Gretchen would still say yes for a project in GMA with Claudine. Kris Aquino and Ruffa Gutierrez are all in ABS...so she has to be in the same network where the cream of the crop are. Hindi sya papatalbog. There are plenty of reasons why Claudine transferred. To top it all, she has no soap or any projects from ABS. She has family to support. Her last soap was Iisa Pa Lamang last year and her last movie was Sukob last 2006. Another reason is that there are new talents in ABS who deserve more attention since they give ABS more cash flows. Just try to imagine Angel Locsin has already new soap in the works and not to mention a new movie with Aga Muhlach. She was nominated for Best Actress in International Emmy Awards. The last movie of Bea Alonzo was a monster hit in the box office. Younger talents like Maja Salvador and Erich Gonzales with their respective soaps also showed a strong presence in the TV rating. Conclusion: Her transfer wasn't amicable and ABS-CBN let her go because she is now a waning star! tvkahuna.blogspot.com/2009/11/clauding-barretto-is-now-kapuso.html
