Maricar Reyes denies alleged rift with Angel Locsinby Napoleon Quintos | August 27, 2010 8:28 AM Maricar Reyes told reporters who visited her on the set of Imortal that there’s no rift between her and co-star Angel Locsin. “Of course not because it’s not true,” was Maricar’s brief answer. Maricar was at one time named as the cause of the breakup of Angel and Luis Manzano’s romance. Maricar further revealed that she and Angel are having a great time together on the set of Imortal. She also praised the latter for her impressive acting talent. “Wala pa kaming formal scenes together ni Angel. Pero I’ve seen her sa mga eksena niya. Magaling siya. More of off camera ang interaction ko sa kanya so far. She’s such a jolly person, ma-chika siya. Being the two female lead stars in the upcoming ABS-CBN fantaserye, Maricar and Angel easily found common interests. While Angel has been recognized for doing numerous fantaseryes in the past, Imortal marks Maricar’s first venture in the fantasy genre. But Maricar said she welcomes challenges in her career as an actress. “Physically draining siya. Pero at least, in a way hindi pa siya emotionally heart-wrenching sa ngayon. It’s a different challenge this time compared to my other roles before na emotionally draining.” The model-turned-actress talked about the preparing for the fight scenes and stunts that she had to do in Imortal as she takes on the character of vampire Samantha. “May mga fight scenes na kami and nagte-training kami for that. May trainer kami for mixed martial arts. Patient talaga sila magturo so I’m thankful.” - ABS-CBN

Angel Locsin doesn't need to teach John Lloyd Cruz how to act in a fantaseryeby Napoleon Quintos | August 27, 2010 8:36 AM Many are excited about the first team up of Angel Locsin and John Lloyd Cruz via the upcoming ABS-CBN fantaserye, Imortal. When reporters interviewed Angel on the set, she shared how she is having a great time working with John Lloyd. Kaya kapag may eksena kami, looking forward talaga ako. Kasi in between takes, kapag set-up, nakakapagkwentuhan kami. Exciting talaga.” Whenever they would get to chat on the set, John Lloyd would talk about his relationship with his family and the other things that he does outside of showbiz. Also according to Angel, Imortal paved the way for her to get know the “John Lloyd” known for his acting prowess and professionalism. Angel shared, “Kasi first time ko talaga siya maka trabaho. First time kong nakakita ng artistang bagong gising…. So ako, mapipilitan na ring tumayo agad.” With this, Angel said there’s no need for her to assist John Lloyd in doing a fantaserye like Imortal. This project is John Lloyd’s first fantasy series, while Angel has done several in the past. She played a wolf/woman in the teleserye Lobo which earned her a Best Actress nomination from the International Emmy Awards. Ha ha ha!,” the actress answered with a laugh. She further revealed that John Lloyd handled his fight scenes in Imortal with grace. May lalim. Natural. Leading man pa rin ang dating niya.” - ABS-CBN

Angel Locsin feels more lives could've been saved during hostage-taking By Alex Valentin Brosas August 27, 2010, 10:56am Actress Angel Locsin believes that if only the tragic hostage-taking that took place recently were handled better, then more of the victims would be alive today. Ayokong magmarunong. Pero sana, kung magkakaroon tayo ng ganoong klaseng situation, ma-handle nang maaayos ng mga mambabatas, ng minamahal nating pulis, ‘di ba,” Angel said of the incident. The police has gotten flak for failing to save the lives of eight hostages. The actress defended the police even as she appealed to government to upgrade the weaponry used in hostage rescue operations. Lucky can, Angel won't On her personal life, the actress said she encouraged ex-boyfriend Luis Manzano to date other girls when they parted ways. Kasi ako, mahal ko si Luis,” she said. As for Angel, she never dated anyone then. Angel seemed to have softened a bit when it comes to her relationship with Luis. She even went out on a date with him recently. - Manila Bulletin

Aga Muhlach on his movie with Angel Locsin: 'Mahirap!'by Fionna Acaba | August 27, 2010 10:06 AM While Aga Muhlach describes working on his new movie with Angel Locsin as strenuous, he was also ecstatic about the big Star Cinema production. "Okay naman, mahirap lang yung movie namin. Mahirap yung coverage. Kasi hindi siya yung love story between a boy and a girl. Ito, merong backrop ng politics—there's a governor, probinsiya then may nakulong. So malaki yung scope niya. Meron ding [scenes sa] Japan and makukulong din ako dun. Then uuwi ako sa probinsya namin and then nandun si Angel—magkakabarilan pa doon. He said that for now, he and Angel will just have to work hard and give their best. What adds to the grandness of the movie is that he is performing several kinds of dances. "And our dancing? We rehearse all the time. Ang dancing namin you are not just performing. It is a dance na biglang may eksena dun na habang sumasayaw dun nagkakapatayan. Nag-aaway kami sa tango, may mga ganun. Ibang-iba… That's why when it was offered sa akin sabi ko, 'Wow! Ganda. This is the movie talaga.’ And then nung ginagawa ko na I realized, 'Kaya ko ba ito?' Malakas naman yung katawan ko kaya lang when you start dancing again now, ito na yung reality na you have to rehearse every other day… And I am doing seven dances. I have yung pasa doble, yung may toro na may (stomps feet). And there's hip-hop, dalawang klaseng tango, Argentine and American and Rumba. Mahirap!" Aga shared that when it comes to his work, he is lifting everything to the Lord. - ABS-CBN

Angel Locsin: Enterprising on New RolesBy ANA KRISTINE B. VALENZUELA PUBLISHED MOD August 2010 ANGEL Locsin has already proven herself well in showbiz so she endeavors on a new enterprise. And she is taking with her the things she learned from the entertainment industry as she fulfills a new role of an entrepreneur. The Century Tuna endorser recently ventured into the food industry by opening her own bar and KTV in Quezon City, which is called Fuel Up. “It’s my first time to do this, to engage in a business, specifically a bar. Lately I’ve been going out a lot because I really don’t know what the people are looking for. The crowd in Makati is different from the crowd in Quezon City, right?” It isn’t the competition that Angel is checking out as when it comes to her business, as she is hands-on. “There are times that I go to the bar and oversee things. I even mix drinks. Of course it’s just a new business. I really have to assist my staff and we need to work hand in hand. We are like one big family there,” she says. She fondly recalls one incident when she gladly helped out. “There was one time we were shorthanded, and our bartender needed assistance. Our customers wanted some drinks and to take pictures with me. Then, I thought, hmm… why don’t I help out? I asked them, ano gusto n’yo? Our sales went double that night. Every time someone would take a picture they would need to drink beer or take a shot first. It was fun, tapos na-enjoy naman nila, kasi ako ‘ yung nagmi-mix talaga,” she says. Of course like any regular establishment, Fuel Up also encounters some dilemmas. She shares, “One time, there was a group who went on a field trip in our bar. We didn’t know what to do. Kasi ‘di ba, why would you have field trip in a bar? They were all minors. If we turned them away, they would be offended. Also, our regulars and walk-in customers were there. Even though they were so many-- a bus full! --they weren’t really ordering much. Probably because they were still minors. So we just talked to them and stated our rules. Of course some were offended. But we really needed to do that.” “Success is not all luck. There are certain opportunities that pass us by, may mga tsamba, but then you also have to prove yourself,” Angel says. “You wouldn’t be able to last in the entertainment industry if you don’t have the talent, proper attitude, and if you don’t work your fingers to the bone.” Of course we know that Angel proved herself well by not passing by opportunities such as the youth show Click, and in the fantasy series Mulawin where she played Alwina. Even more, she proved her acting prowess via an Emmy nomination for her role as she-wolf in the teleserye Lobo. “Some think that showbiz is all glitz and glamour,” she says. “No, it’s not just that. There are days when you don't feel the emotion the director calls for, but you just have to emote it. That’s how draining the work is.” Up next for Angel is a movie with Aga Muhlach, tentatively titled Huling Sayaw, where she plays the role of a pole dancer ."When I was offered the role, my reaction was, ‘Are you sure that it is me you want to cast?’” Angel says. She added that she had to take up pole dancing lessons. "In this movie, I had to do everything that I didn’t want to do, as in lahat. Problems such as having minors in a bar you own or being cast in a challenging role may be a regular rough patch on the road, but this girl can seem to solve it well, with a dose of talent and a shot of perseverance. “It just takes hard work for you to do your job well. Research, be on time, and be professional,” she said. Angel Talks Fitness and Money What’s your daily diet like? I have to have a cheat day, where in I eat whatever I want. Before, I chow down on a lot of junk food, but now, I don’t eat as much anymore. I stopped eating junk food this year. Do you have a sports regimen? I do biking and belly dancing. How about your exercise regimen? I jog. I work out. There’s a video called Insanity. You should watch it. The workout is super intense. It is not that new, but it is slowly gaining a following. How do you budget your money? I have an accountant who helps me with my budget. I don’t spend that much. I only treat myself with food actually and, oh yeah, shoes. If I don’t need something then I won’t buy it. I keep my payments in the bank and withdraw cash only if needed. What is one thing that you are saving for? I already have a house, so I’d like to have more investments. What do you consider yourself rich in? I am rich in family and friends. I consider myself blessed for having that kind of family who supports me. At the same time, they don’t tolerate the bad things that I do. They treat you as a normal person and not as a celebrity
