Award winning actor Luis Manzano answered the "cases" brought up against him on Toni Gonzaga’s segment called TGIS (Toni Gonzaga Intriga Statements) on “The Buzz” last July 18.
The first dish about Manzano came from his mother, Batangas Governor and Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos. Apparently, Santos has advised her son: “Tigilan mo na ang pagiging exhibitionist mo.”
This has to do with Manzano’s penchant for taking his clothes off and changing anywhere he is, even when on a street in Spain while shooting the movie “Crazy For You” with Gonzaga herself. This “exhibitionist” tendencies, as they joked, was corroborated by Gonzaga, who shared an anecdote about Manzano at times coming into the “E Live” dressing room and pulling his shirt up, revealing his abs.
“Hindi ko naman sinasabi na maganda ang katawan ko,” Manzano defended himself. “Hindi naman ako naghuhubad ng all the way. ‘Yun siguro ang medyo mali, ‘pag kaya kong gawin ‘yun sa harap niyo. Pero kung kailangan magbihis, kahit saan man magbibihis. Eh si mommy hindi kumportable sa idea na ‘yon.”
The second case involved the alleged “third party”—purportedly Maricar Reyes—in the midst of Manzano’s break-up with Angel Locsin over a year ago.
“Ang dami kong naririnig na kwento tungkol sa akin na hindi ko alam kung saan nanggagaling, na walang basis. Etong sa amin ni Maricar, I would always say na she’s a friend pero never naging factor si Maricar sa paghihiwalay namin ni Angel,” he clarified. Reyes, whom Manzano admitted to texting even when he was still involved with Locsin, was supposed to be his love interest for the movie “Flash Bomba.”
“When things happened, isa ako sa mga nag-check sa kanya… you know what I mean? Iwan na natin don,” Manzano said, while revealing that outside of work, there wasn’t much communication between them. “The lady has been through enough, wag naman sana nating i-damay ng ganyan.”
Another intriguing statement that Manzano had to answer came from a fan, via Facebook, who wanted him to “not just sit there [and] do everything to win her [Locsin] back…”
Amidst rumors of other people wooing Locsin—namely Efren Penaflorida and Parokya ni Edgar’s Chito Miranda—Manzano had recently admitted that the communication lines between him and his angel were once again open. He also had said he wanted to pursue the friendship again.
“Siguro in any break-up, dadaan kayo sa mga phase naman siguro. Sabi mo nga, magkaka-ilangan kayo, may konting anger, or pwedeng maging friends ulit… And if there’s hope for rekindling… maraming phase na pagdadaanan. Siguro safe to say kami ni Angel, at this point, marami na kaming napag-daanan since the break-up. So in terms of, kung maaayos pa namin as a couple, only time can tell,” he shared.
Gonzaga then immediately called Manzano to his earlier admission that he would be seeing Locsin after the interview, to the delight of the audience.
“Kasi umalis ako, nag-Hong Kong ako. And siguro Angel and I, we have a long-overdue talk… So nagkataon na she’s very very busy with ‘Imortal,’ she’s very very busy with a movie. Ako din naman,” he pointed out.
But without missing a beat, Gonzaga turned to Manzano to ask if he still loves Locsin. To a thrilled studio audience, Manzano replied, “Angel will always have a special place in my heart, and I will always equate it with love.”
On a possible reconciliation, he said, “Even I don’t know, instead of making a false promise. Pero I’m taking things [one] at a time. And it’s a very very good start… that’s hopefully ‘yung usapan namin mamaya.”
With Gonzaga kidding he should come back on the show the following week to reveal what would happen to their talk, Manzano said, “We’ll take it from there. Everything starts from a simple conversation. So hopefully, kung ano man patunguhan nun, at least we know we started right…”
