Angel leaves ‘Kokey’ MANILA (ABS-CBN) - ABS-CBN has confirmed that Angel Locsin would no longer be part of fantaserye “Kokey@Ako.” Locsin was pulled out from the project to do another teleserye with John Lloyd Cruz. In an interview during the “Kokey@Ako” pictorial, lead star Vhong Navarro told ABS-CBN.com that he completely understands the decision of the management. “Happy naman ako na magagawa na niya ‘yon (new teleserye) kasi ang pagkakaalam ko dati pa siyang excited na gawin ‘yon,” he said. Navarro said he has yet to talk to Locsin, but he assured that he is happy for the actress. “Nagkakausap kami noong medyo pahaging na malabong magawa niya itong ‘Kokey@Ako.’ Pero ngayong na-confirm na hindi pa kami nagkakausap. Okay lang naman sa akin. Ang iniisip ko talaga siya kasi medyo natatagalan nga itong Kokey pero kailangan na niya kasing mag-work. Mabuti naman sisimulan na ‘yong teleserye niya with John Lloyd, isang good friend ko rin,” he said. With Locsin gone, Toni Gonzaga has stepped in to take over the role. “Kahit na nawala si Angel, naging happy naman ako kasi si Toni ‘yong pumalit. Bestfriend ko ‘yan si Toni. Ang dami naming pinagsamahan na project, gamay na namin ang isa’t isa. First time nga lang na magteteleserye kami.” The “It’s Showtime” host will start taping for “Kokey@Ako” very soon. www.dailymirror.ph/Mar-2010/Mar1610/ent1.htmlMARCH 16, 2010

The passion of nationalist fashionistas (The Philippine Star) Updated March 17, 2010 12:00 AM MANILA, Philippines - Nationalism is fashionable,” stated women’s rights activist and senatorial candidate Liza Maza, actress Angel Locsin and triathlete Sandra Araullo when they modeled for MazaLine, a collection of “statement gowns” that was launched in a photo-shoot by Xander Angeles dubbed as “Passion of a Nationalist Fashionista” at the Edge of Light Studios in Quezon City. Modern Filipinas Liza, Angel and Sandra donned gowns symbolizing patriotism designed by Dennis Cabalinan. They believe that fashion can be used to effectively send a message. Liza explained, “Fashion is an important tool of advocacy, most especially in the pursuit of change in our fellow Filipinos, most especially the women’s lives.” Liza Maza: The Modern Gabriela Liza Maza is considered the face of women’s rights and empowerment in the Philippines. Her name symbolizes the modern Filipinas’ struggle against discrimination and inequality. She is the epitome of a modern Filipina: intelligent, confident and strong-willed. Aside from her bold assertions of women’s rights, Liza Maza is known for her “fashionable statements,” whether in the streets or in the halls of Congress. At the height of allegations of corruption against former President Joseph Estrada, Liza called for his resignation by mounting the much-acclaimed “Women’s Passion Show.” When former United States President George W. Bush addressed the Philippine Congress in 2003, she donned a Filipiniana ensemble with a hand-painted panuelo to express her opposition to US military intervention and war on terror. During President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s last State of the Nation address in July 2009, she stole the red carpet with her katsa gown bearing a hand-painted image of the President and other proponents of Constituent Assembly, to show her opposition to what she believed was an unconstitutional way of amending the Philippine Charter. Even after more than 30 fearless years of fighting for the interest of the masses, most especially of the Filipino women, Liza Maza remains unwavering in her dedication to serve the people. In fact, she is taking the fight to a whole new level by running in the Senate. =Angel Locsin: Advocate For Rural Women Empowerment
Angel Locsin may be one of the brightest stars to ever shine in Philippine television and cinema, but when asked which among her accomplishments she was most proud of, she proudly shares it was the opportunity to influence people on issues that affect their daily lives, such as issues on poverty and concerns on the environment.
Angel’s performances are widely applauded for the depth and intensity she exhibits in them. Her realistic portrayals, however, are not only the result of rigid workshops, but are drawn from her deep and broad understanding of the realities of life which she herself once upon a time bore witness to.
Her strong affinity for the causes of women, most especially those living in poor rural areas, and her advocacy for the protection of the environment are among the many reasons Angel participated in several of the organization’s activities and campaigns and even endorsed Gabriela in the past elections.Sandra Araullo: Women’s Rights Advocate Sandra Araullo excels in three sports — namely swimming, cycling and running — and has won several international awards such as a silver medal in the 2008 Southeast Asian Games. The young triathlete most especially sympathizes with the women-survivors of domestic violence and has a soft spot for children. “Women have the right to engage in activities where they feel empowered. They should not be subjected to abuse and violence,” Sandra said. www.philstar.com/Article.aspx?articleId=558692

Which Is The Hottest Causing-Accident Billboard In Manila?March 17th, 2010 We all know that we got records of vehicle accidents for the past years because of these sexy billboards along EDSA (one of the major roads here in Manila). Just recently, StyleBible.ph launched a battle of the billboards and I was surprised with the results. Some of the hottest local celebrity stars that graced the battle is Angel Locsin, Bea Alonzo, KC Concepcion, Kim Chiu, Kristine Hermosa and Maja Salvador. Personally, I would definitely vote for Angel Locsin. She’s unbelievably perfect! And I love this poster: www.afreemind.org/tag/angel-locsin/

Angel is getting restlessBy Mario Bautista ‘It’s been half a year since her last show, “Only You,” was shown and she has had no exposure on TV or in film for a long time now.’We heard Viva Films is alarmed that after nearly two years in the making, the Aga Muhlach-Regine Velasquez reunion flick, "Of All the Things," is nowhere near completion up to now, whereas "Working Girls 2010," which has a much bigger cast has been completed after only a couple of months and is now ready to be shown. Some folks say it was delayed by Aga’s efforts to take off some unwanted poundage, but others say shooting is frequently stalled because its director, Joyce Bernal, is often intoxicated. *snipped Going back to the film with Aga, is it true that his manager, Manay Ethel Ramos, contracted some skin allergies due to tension over the delay in the filming? She’s waiting for Aga to finish it so he can start the film he’ll do with Angel Locsin, who’s now also a ward of Manay Ethel. As it is, Angel is getting restless and is said to have gone to Hong Kong by herself. It’s been half a year since her last show, "Only You," was shown and she has had no exposure on TV or in film for a long time now. Meantime, new stars are being built up by ABS-CBN non-stop, like Erich Gonzales, Bangs Garcia and Andi Eigenmann, so she does have a reason to feel worried. www.malaya.com.ph/03182010/ent_mario.html>>>>>>>>>>> i don't think Angel is worried about newcomers ..i believe she is more concerned with the work itself because angel looks like a workaholic ...

Happy to be Kapamilyaby Joseph Peter Gonzales Thursday, March 18, 2010 Angel Locsin says she’s happy that she renewed her contract with ABS-CBN for another two years. “I was happy with my first two years with them. First, Lobo and Only You were certified top raters. In fact, for the former, I got a nomination from the prestigious International Emmy awards. My first movie for Star Cinema, Love Me Again also made money. I don’t see any reason why I shouldn’t sign up with them again.” Angel seemingly is proud to be Kapamilya. “For one, with ABS, I got recognized as an actress. I learned to be more serious with my craft. They also taught me how to be patient. Now I believe that you don’t need to have successive shows especially if they are not good ones and will just put your considerable acting talent to waste. Even if you didn’t have a show for a certain period of time, management will see to it that your next project will be a grand one. “In my case, there’s the fantasy series lined up for me and John Lloyd (Cruz). We’re currently preparing for our workshop. It’ll be extensive since we have to study martial arts and the (use of the) harness. It will be, after all, action-packed. Star Cinema is also preparing my first-ever movie opposite Aga (Muhlach). Given these projects, I can really say it’s worth the wait!” With her career on the upswing, people are curious about the status of her relationship with Luis Manzano, who we heard is doing everything to win her back. There are reports that she has been discouraging him to go the extra mile, but the actor is unfazed and in fact, wants to make up for his shortcomings during those days when they were still a couple.. “Actually, Luis and I are fine. We’re talking, we’re happy. Let’s leave it at that at the moment. This is one point where we want to keep things to ourselves. I hope the public would understand us. “If we’ll reconcile eventually, let’s see. So be it. But we don’t want to put ourselves under pressure. We’re not in a hurry anyway. Definitely, it won’t be that easy. “With regards to his so-called shortcomings before, we just don’t talk about it. Honestly, I don’t know what to react. The reason why I oppose the idea of him putting in huge effort just to win me back is because I know that I’m not yet ready. Of course, Luis will always have a soft spot in my heart but at this point, we really need space from each other,” explains Angel. www.manilastandardtoday.com/insideEntertainment.htm?f=2010/march/18/entertainment2.isx&d=2010/march/18

Congratulations Angel Locsin for Lobo's wide viewership in Brunei and ABS-CBN for putting the Philippines teleserye in the global map ..hope you will do more quality shows like below ... >>>>>>>>>>>>> Teleseryes touch global viewers!by: Richard Roxas | STIR Contributor 19 Mar 2010 | 09:51 AM What are the English title of the following all-time favorite ABS-CBN drama series: “Pangako Sa Yo,” “Ikaw ang Lahat sa Akin” “Sana Maulit Muli, “Maging Sino Ka Man,” and “Gulong ng Palad,” “Lobo,” “Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay?” Answers stated in the text. The Kapamilya fever around the world grows even stronger as ABS-CBN programs prove to be a hit not only among Filipinos but among other nations as well. Recently, “Pangako Sa ‘Yo” aired on China’s national television and rated second over all local and foreign programs airing in the country. Ten years after Filipinos became so attached to the Kristine Hermosa-Jericho Rosales tandem, the classic teleserye still appealed to the Chinese audience and even hit the Top 30 list in the national weekly ranking, covering over 2,000 channels and capturing 1.3 billion viewers. Prior to China, the love story of Angelo Buenavista and Yna Macaspac had mesmerized people in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia and even Africa. As Cambodian Nai Hiu Mei recounts, “The teleserye, broadcasted here with Khmer dubbing, was so popular that many Cambodian babies are named Angelo.” The “Times of Zambia” writer Meluse Kapatamoyo wrote, “The series has become a topic of discussion among families, friends and even neighbors who daily ponder on how the show would end.” René Lötter of One Africa Television has even said, “When is ‘Pangako Sa’Yo’ coming back?’ I wish I could get a dollar each time I get that question. From teenager to grandma, from household organizers to tax consultant –- it’s gripped people across all genders.” Aside from “Pangako sa ‘Yo” (known internationally as “The Promise”), several other homegrown entertainment programs have been brought to a broader global audience through the pioneering efforts of ABS-CBN Global’s International Sales and Distribution (ISD). Carried by the biggest state television broadcaster in mainland China, “Ikaw ang Lahat sa Akin” (a.k.a. “Only You”) aired on primetime, alongside “Pangako sa ‘Yo”. Meanwhile, “Sana Maulit Muli” (a.k.a. “Chances”), “Maging Sino Ka Man” (a.k.a. “More Than Love”) and “Gulong ng Palad” (a.k.a. “Stand for Love”) are expected to be aired in the Republic soon. Also earning international recognition worldwide is the Angel Locsin-Piolo Pascual starrer "Lobo” (a.k.a. “She-Wolf: The Last Sentinel”). In the recently concluded 2009 International Emmy® Awards, “She-Wolf” was recognized for the stellar performance of Angel Locsin who received a nomination for Best Performance by an Actress. This recognition is second for the show, which won the Best Telenovela award at the 30th BANFF World Television Festival in Toronto, Canada last year. Currently, the program is enjoying wide viewership in Brunei and is anticipated to be released to other countries in Indo-China, Asia, Europe and Africa this year. [/color] ABS-CBN shows are subtitled and dubbed in several languages, including English, Turkish, Khmer, Mandarin, and French. One of the programs dubbed in French is “Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay” (a.k.a. “La Longue Attente” in French and “The Long Wait” in English) which will cater to French-speaking viewers in Africa and Europe. According to International Sales and Distribution Head Reena Garingan, ABS-CBN programs sell so well because they resonate to the African audience. “Our writers, directors and actors are able to capture real-life experiences on screen. Our stories show pain and suffering but in the end, give viewers a glimpse of hope. As we demonstrate that obstacles and fear may be overcome, we help mend the broken African spirit,” Garingan said. For more than a decade, ISD has been the premier source of top quality programs from the Philippines, making ABS-CBN Global the first and the biggest Philippine content distributor in North America, Europe, Australia and Asia-Pacific and the leading Asian distributor in Africa. Through ISD, Kapamilya shows have become so popular among non-Filipinos that ABS-CBN is now regarded as a market mover and thought leader in the field of broadcasting in Africa. In fact, Garingan recently attended a content and distribution forum to speak in front of leading journalists and broadcasters in Africa and discuss the social and ethical responsibilities of media professionals. Indeed, ABS-CBN has made its mark in the global market. Through the efforts of ABS-CBN Global’s International Sales and Distribution group, homegrown Pinoy entertainment has been given a chance to shine on the global stage. www.stir.ph/LM/articles~level2/id-1268963245935_4/ai-null/Teleseryes_touch_viewers.html

hmmm, this article is pro-Erap but I find it a compliment to Angel Locsin that even a political commentator recognizes Angel's star power appeal to the youth >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Persuading the youth DIE HARD III Herman Tiu Laurel 03/19/2010 I was taken aback when one of my 19-year-old twins asked, “Pa, why aren’t you for Gibo?” This question from my son Enzo, who is a first year De La Salle philosophy student, was asked as we drove home his fellow Northfield alumnus, Miggy, after I picked them up from a party. The question reflects his deep thought about the political question of the day and I felt honored that he considered my view in such an earnest way. The question also reflects a concern of Enzo and his peers that I surmise stems from a perceived positive regard of the youth for Gibo and a need to understand why not everyone is thinking the same way. I started by explaining that the young often assume many things to be absolutely correct but discover soon enough, as they grow older and wiser, that these aren’t so true after all. Admittedly, Gibo is very articulate and if that were the only basis for leadership, I, too, would be for him. But governance, I explained, is more than just articulation. It is about love for the people and standing by a firm conviction. I then asked: Who among the other nine presidential candidates have ever shown “conviction,” a strong belief in his own cause to risk and actually suffer detention for it? Erap had always stood by his belief — and conviction — that the people’s welfare is a president’s chief responsibility — the reason he opposed hasty increases in power and water rates that made the oligarchs conspire with the Gloria Arroyo forces to remove him from power and later concoct crimes against him. Estrada believed in his own innocence that he refused exile and chose to stand detention and trial, up to the very end, when they had to pardon him after his kangaroo court conviction. Further, Erap firmly believes it is the duty of the president to defend the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic; hence, he never balked at wiping out rebellion in Mindanao and resisted foreign intervention. I also injected Estrada’s concern for farm productivity, as seen in his “carabao breeding” program. After we dropped Miggy off, that matter faded into oblivion until a week later when Enzo suddenly said: “Pa, you convinced Miggy to vote for Erap.” Surprised, I asked him how I had convinced Miggy when we never got to talk directly about Erap. Enzo explained that his friend was listening from the backseat the whole time and as he listened to my explanation, he eventually got convinced to vote for Erap. Given the youth’s mindset, it is no accident that certain candidates are triggering the “herd mentality” among the youth by creating trendy ads and fads that particularly target them. Chiz Escudero, once the darling of the youth, started this early until his feet of clay collapsed from under him. ABS-CBN is targeting the youth not only for a candidate but for building its self-proclaimed patriotic and non-partisan media role — an empty boast belied by its history of political interventionism and Machiavellianism. The other oligarchs, on the other hand, have been constantly stalking the youth with their “I am Ninoy” type campaigns that feature various fashion pieces as a not-too-subtle push for their Yellow dummy. Then, as another subliminal appeal to the young, Villarroyo uses children’s voices in almost all his ads, too. As tyrants over the centuries have known, the youth are easily manipulable as a mass of body and mind. From the so-called Hitler Youth to Mao’s Red Guards, to the Catholic Church’s Days with the Lord and Student Catholic Action, the youth have always been an indispensible adjunct. But as my narrative about Enzo and Miggy shows, the youth as individuals aren’t always dumb. We only have to treat them not as “the youth” per se but as individuals who have a clear mind and an innately sound moral foundation. I imagine my narrative as a radio ad for President Estrada because I think it would really click and spread a chain reaction of Erap’s message, as it is happening among the masa. Let’s say with Eddie Garcia as the father and Angel Locsin and another young male celebrity, the youth will listen. In the meantime, Estrada presses on with his fight against onerous power rates, as this space is doing, even as mainstream media continue to shut this voice out. At his March 19 jampacked press conference, “The Power Crisis in Mindanao,” at the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino headquarters on 409 Shaw, Estrada lashed out at the power crisis hoax created by the Arroyo regime and the oligarchs, and its danger to the elections. Estrada proposed his practical approach of mobilizing for conservation and self-generation by big users and those with private generator-sets to protect the people from the crisis’ adverse effects, a vital news which only the Tribune carried in its front pages. That is how big and dangerous the power oligarchs’ lobby is, and it will take an Estrada leadership to face it head on — definitely, another issue that the youth can understand and resonate with. akala ko kaya pull-out si gel sa Kokey kasi start na ang series with jlc at movie kaya di kaya ...kaylan naman kaya ang actual start ng taping at gaano katagal ang training? >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Written by Rommel Placente Wednesday, 17 March 2010 00:05 Lloydie, naghahanda na para kay AngelNAG-TEXT kami kay John Lloyd Cruz para tanungin siya kung ano ang bago sa kanya pagkatapos ipalabas ang Miss You Like Crazy, latest movie nila ng kanyang ka-loveteam na si Bea Alonzo. Narito ang textback sa amin ng magaling na aktor. “Bale in less than one week aalis ako kasama sina Piolo (Pascual), Bea (Alonzo), Sam (Milby), Richard (Poon), Kim (Chiu) and Gerald (Anderson). Punta kami ng US for a series of shows. Tapos pagbalik ko, I’ll be training na for a new soap with Angel Locsin. So far ‘yun pa lang ang bago.” So, tuloy na tuloy na pala ang serye na pagsasamahan nina Lloydie at Angel. Siguradong matutuwa ang fans ni Angel, lalo na ang Angel Locsin Texters Clan. Bukod sa gusto kasi nila na makatambal ng kanilang idolong si Lloydie ay mas gusto nila na sa drama napapanood si Angel at hindi sa isang show na tulad ng Kokey na isang comedy/fantasy.
