www.abs-cbnnews.com/entertainment/01/13/10/angel-locsin-excited-portray-gregoria-de-jesusAngel Locsin excited to portray Gregoria de Jesus by Boy Villasanta, abs-cbnNEWS.com | 01/13/2010 11:57 AM MANILA, Philippines - It is a role that comes just once in a lifetime and Angel Locsin doesn't want to let the offer go. Prizewinning director Mario O'Hara is looking for an actress who can perfectly portray real life Filipino heroine Gregoria de Jesus in his new film that will tackle the life of Andres Bonifacio. And he wants Locsin to play Bonifacio's wife. “Ang Paglilitis” is a documentary drama that will feature a court hearing on Emilio Aguinaldo's participation on Bonifacio's death. It has been chosen as one of the grantees to the newly opened division, Open Category for established Filipino directors, of the 6th Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival. “I want Angel Locsin to play the part. It is tailor made for her,” exclaimed O'Hara. There is one question, though. “Can we afford her talent fee?” asked the internationally acclaimed film artist. It is quite known in the local film industry that independent filmmaking works on a shoestring budget that also covers the actor's asking price. Locsin is one of the biggest paid artists in the entertainment industry. When we brought up the idea to her a few days ago, the young actress easily quipped: “Napapag-usapan naman po 'yon.” Obviously, Locsin was very interested in the offer. “Sa contract ko naman po, may option to do a project outside my studio,” she clarified. “Sige po, gusto ko po 'yan. Sabihin mo po sa kanila na makipag-usap na sa manager ko,” she egged on very excitedly. What really made Locsin very happy about the movie offer, aside from the rare opportunity to work with artist O'Hara, was her penchant for history and its importance in our lives. “Maganda po 'yan. Kasi, ngayon po, hindi na alam ng marami ang ating history. I want to be part of a film na nagpapaalala sa ating kasaysayan na hindi pa natin alam,” she professed. When we informed O’Hara about Locsin's reaction, he was also very excited. “Miracles are happening in my film. That's what I need. Things are really falling in their proper places. That's what I call miracle,” he said. “When I was doing most of Nora Aunor's films, there were always miracles and I work best under these circumstances,” he chuckled. He's currently doing his homework on Locsin. as of 01/13/2010 12:28 PM

that’s entertainment! January 13, 2010 in drama and all that TV shows | Tags: Angel Locsin, manny pacquiao, photo shoots, young celebrities I always have an aversion for anything and everything that has to do with Pinoy showbiz. More often than not, the artistas of today’s generation were product of hype and of good ol’ PR. A far cry from the stars of yester years like Gloria Romero, Bella Flores, Eddie Garcia, Rosa Rosal and the late Nida Blanca, who were known for their TALENT and their professionalism, the young stars of today get by the hype built by their own mother studios and by the press releases churned by their own publicists. Thus even if friends accuse me of acute colonial mentality, I will not hesitate to claim that I know nothing about these artistas, except Ate Shawie and Juday, whom I absolutely adore. My stint as a showbiz writer way back didn’t help boost my impression with these so-called starlets littering the entertainment industry. I hated the brainless drivel usually passed on as movie, the best example being any Manny Pacquiao movie ever churned out (“Anak ni Kumander”, “Wapakman”…wtf?!?). The problem with Pinoy movies is that if its comedy, it churns out tried and tested antics that would make the stupid laugh–as if someone’s disability or if someone tripped or falls flat in his face IS funny, or the usual knock-knock jokes I heard since Nursery school. If it’s an action flick, Pinoys are guaranteed the presence of any of the following: leather jackets, a protagonist that refused to die, and a leading lady usually clothed in flimsy clothing while running away from the goons. My views of today’s celebrity altered a bit when I encountered actress Angel Locsin during her photo shoot as my company’s new endorser. I was prepared to see the side of her that is not seen on celluloid–the charity, the kindness and the cool demeanor– is it really for real or part of the package?
And I was pleasantly surprised to know that nothing was part of an act. Angel Locsin, the Emmy-nominated actress is as warm, as friendly and as cool in real life as she is in reel life.
a cool girl, indeed!
Unlike other people who claimed to know everything (more on this later), I am quick to admit if I am wrong. Angel should be the poster girl of today’s breed of talented young actresses. As I am a newbie in the field of advertising photo shoots, I was simply amazed on the length it takes to get that perfect shot. For example, our campaign calls for five sittings or five frames. For each frame, it took Angel, her make-up artist, her stylist, her hair person gazillions of shot to get THAT shot which will be used for the campaign. So, amidst the flashing lights and the directions from the talented Francis Abraham, Angel will pout, move her body to the side, raise up her arms, smile, and project amidst the blinding flashes.
Sometime in the midst of shooting the second sitting, the studio resembled MRT on rush hour after a lot of people came to visit. Other famous actresses might freeze on the sight of the mob looking on in her pictorial or would probably demand that everyone get out…but not Angel. She gamely said hi, shook hands and rocked the camera.
If I probably sound like a fan, then forgive me. It’s hard seeing a Pinoy celebrity from Angel’s generation with the same level of professionalism and humility like her. The fact that she carried boxes of Krispy Kreme to the shoot, and literally offered it (as in while draped in her costume and shod in tsinelas) to everyone who was there only sweetens the deal further. kamikazeegirl.wordpress.com/2010/01/13/thats-entertainment/

Luis Manzano says Efren Peñaflorida didn’t call him to ask for Angel Locsin’s handby Heidi Anicete | January 15, 2010 8:08 AM In line with the unending issue on Angel Locsin, Luis Manzano and Efren Peñaflorida’s so called love triangle, another controversy is relentlessly being raised in public. Apparently, rumors are fast spreading that Efren courageously made a move to formally ask for Angel’s hand by personally calling the young lady’s ex-boyfriend, Luis, to once and for all clarify his intentions. In an exclusive interview with SNN, Luis immediately denied the said allegation. Though he admitted that Efren did call him, he actually made it clear that no such conversation took place between the two of them. As he explained, the reason why the renowned CNN Hero actually called him was to actually thank him for his kind comments during one of his interviews. He clarified it himself, “It was all regarding my last interview, when I talked about Efren a bit. Nagpasalamat lang siya sa mga kind words na sinabi ko. It has nothing to do with Angel.” www.abs-cbn.com/Feature/Article/6257/Luis-Manzano-says-Efren-Pe%C3%B1aflorida-didn-t-call-him-to-ask-for-Angel-Locsin-s-hand.aspx

Christian Bautista admits he had no problems kissing Anne Curtis for a music video by Bernie Franco | January 15, 2010 9:01 AM | Share this article Christian Bautista recently shot the music video for “Beautiful Girl” which is included in his double-platinum award winning album, Romance Revisited: The Love Songs of Jose Mari Chan. In the said video, four of Christian’s celebrity friends play his leading ladies, namely Angel Locsin, Anne Curtis, Georgina Wilson, and Solenn Heussaf, included in the said video. One of the video’s highlights is Christian’s kissing scene with Anne, whom Christian also said was the closest to him among the four. Their kissing scene took four takes and the crooner said that he never felt the slightest uneasiness with Anne after the takes, thanks to her professionalism. “She is just a great actress already and talagang sanay na talaga siya sa acting. Whatever the scene requires [she is up to it],” he explained. “Ako naman sa theater naman, [nung nag-star] ako sa West Side Story pa lang andami nang kissing scenes. We were having fun. We were okay with it. The kissing scene is not the point, the point is there is a role given to you, there is a requirement, there is a need to project something sa video. And it just ends with a simple kiss.” This was not their first kissing scene though. “Actually sa Kamperang Kuba (where they both co-starred), we also had a kissing scene, but she was asleep,” Christian said, followed by a laugh. Christian said that the video intends to promote the new generation of Filipinas, which is epitomized by his four leading ladies. “The new Filipina is beautiful on the outside, is beautiful in the inside. They may have mixed nationalities, like Solenn is half-Filipina and half-French, Georgina is half-English, Anne is half-Australian, and Angel is half-Spanish. Talagang ang mukha nila ang gaganda nila at sa puso nila ang gaganda nila.”
In the video, Christian develops a romantic connection with each one of the girls, with each succeeding relationship growing more intense. “Parang nage-escalate ‘yung love. In the end there’s a big surprise I don’t want to tell you [yet].” www.abs-cbn.com/Feature/Article/6261/Christian-Bautista-admits-he-had-no-problems-kissing-Anne-Curtis-for-a-music-video.aspx

PEP EXCLUSIVE: Star Cinema reveals box-office gross of their 2009 filmsJocelyn Dimaculangan Friday, January 15, 2010 08:32 PM The films of Star Cinema for 2009 earned a total of P1.135 billion, based on figures provided by ABS-CBN's film production outfit. PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) met with the Star Cinema executives of Star Cinema—namely Star AdProm director Roxy Liquigan and Star Cinema & TV Synergy Specialist Mico del Rosario—earlier today, January 15, at the ABS-CBN compound to discuss how their films did last year. You Changed My Life, the Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz-starrer, was once again a Valentine hit with its gross of P208.8 million. Star Cinema has promised that the love story of Laida Magtalas and Miggy Montenegro will continue, still with Cathy Garcia-Molina at the helm, but they have no definite date yet for its release. Given the fact that Ai-Ai delas Alas starred in three blockbuster hits last year—Ang Tanging Ina N'yong Lahat, BFF (Best Friends Forever), and Ang Tanging Pamilya—there is a very big possibility that she will be hailed as the Box-Office Queen. However, that will depend on the criteria set by the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation, Inc. and whether they will count the gross Ang Tanging Ina as part of the 2009 movies, or if it should be classified as part of 2008. The three films of Ai-Ai earned a total of P374.5 million. Del Rosario pointed out that even though Ang Tanging Ina N'yong Lahat was part of the 2008 Metro Manila Film Fest, they still consider this Ai-Ai delas Alas starrer as part of their 2009 lineup. This is because even though the film opened on Christmas day, it had a much longer screening period during the month of January 2009. Last year, Sarah was hailed as the Box-Office Queen by the GMMSFI for her blockbuster hit A Very Special Love, while her leading man John Lloyd Cruz was named Box-Office King. Here are the box-office figures provided by Star Cinema regarding their past films: 1. You Changed My Life (Star Cinema/Viva) - P208.8 million Cast: Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz Director: Cathy Garcia-Molina 2. Ang Tanging Ina N'yong Lahat - P200.2 million Cast: Ai-Ai delas Alas, Eugene Domingo Director: Wenn Deramas 3. In My Life - P137.4 million Cast: Vilma Santos, John Lloyd Cruz, Luis Manzano Director: Olive Lamasan 4. I Love You Goodbye - P108 million (As of today, January 15. The film is expected to continue screening until January 30) Cast: Angelica Panganiban, Gabby Concepcion, Derek Ramsay, Kim Chiu Director: Laurice Guillen 5. BFF (Best Friends Forever) - P102.5 million Cast: Sharon Cuneta, Ai-Ai delas Alas Director: Wenn Deramas 6. T2 (Tenement 2) - P95 million Cast: Maricel Soriano, Mika dela Cruz Director: Chito Roño 7. And I Love You So - P89.3 million Cast: Sam Milby, Bea Alonzo, Derek Ramsay Director: Laurenti Dyogi 8. Love Me Again: Land Down Under - P72.1 million Cast: Angel Locsin, Piolo Pascual Director: Rory Quintos
9. Ang Tanging Pamilya: A Marry Go Round - P72 million Cast: Ai-Ai delas Alas, Joseph Estrada Director: Wenn Deramas 10. Villa Estrella - P50.08 million Cast: Maja Salvador, Shaina Magdayao, Jake Cuenca, Geoff Eigenmann Director: Rico Ilarde Star Cinema's opening salvo for 2010 is Paano Na Kaya? starring teen stars Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson. This romantic drama will premiere on January 27, 2010. twilightangela.blogspot.com/2010/01/twitter-ellen-degeneres-sends-private.htmlThursday, January 14, 2010 Ellen DeGeneres Sends Private Message to Angel Locsin I started following Angel Locsin in Twitter closely this month and like her appearances in TV shows and movies, Angel gives her followers surprises not only with her unexpected private (direct) messages but with her activities in Twitter. One thing I can say, it is fun following Angel and you will love her more as you come to know her better. As a self-confessed fan of Ellen DeGeneres, Angel started sending her tweets yesterday and her stalking efforts has been successfully rewarded within 24 hours. Angel was ecstatic when she received a private message from Ellen. I suppose she now has an idea how she makes her followers happy with her private messages. Here's the blog from www.darlasauler.com and I hope she will not mind my re-posting it here. I asked permission after she went to sleep, isn't that a good timing hee. Those who are not familiar with Darla Sauler, she is the writer for SNN (Showbiz News Ngayon) and The Buzz so we should watch out for this news to get featured in SNN. Here's Angel's tweets to Ellen. Notice how sweet she is by mentioning also our other top celebrities. As Angel stalked Ellen, her followers rallied behind her by sending also tweets. I wonder how angeladik, my fave chat mate in the shout box will say about this new development. I hope twitter will deliver to Angel what youtube has done for Charice Pempengco. Quick UpdateMosbeau PhotoshootAngel completed the photo shoot for Mosbeau Philippines on the 12th. To give you an idea on what happened during the shoot, check out the blog here. She is truly an Angel! Check out for the press launch soon and a TV commercial within this year. i suppose i could no longer ignore this news although i had been seeing this in blogs in my searches ..also, PEP has asked Angel about this issue and Angel had refused to comment so it means there is something going on about her working relationship with ate becky
personally, i believe ate becky has been more of a hindrance than a help with angel's career. she made a big mistake in handling angel's tranfer to abs-cbn. i am referring more on how she handled the transfer, not the decision per se because in hindsight it was a wise decision in terms of Angel's growth as an actress. if you notice, ate becky looks like more of a PA now than a manager. anyway, she must have been spoiled when Angel was still with GMA because it was the network which kept on piling up work to Angel and ate becky had not to done much legwork including handling her PR. she must have been surprised with the culture in abs-cbn because she looks like helpless there and had been pushed around if we see how Angel's project kept on delaying or not materializing at all.
the news i had been hearing was that Angel will be signing up with Star Magic. personally, i prefer Angel to sign up with Ms. Malou because there are too many talents already in Star Magic. Viva looks more promising than Star Magic actually. i want a manager for Angel who can fight for her and provide an international exposure or better yet, penetrate the Hollywood ..as what they say, if you dream, dream BIG ...
anyway, here are the couple of news about this subject ...[/color] Talent manager nilayasan na ni Angel LocsinBy Ceasar Pambid Jan 15, 2010 Pipirma na ng kontrata sa ABS-CBN Star Magic si Angel Locsin pagkatapos na umalis umano ito sa poder ng kanyang manager na si Becky Aguila. Ryan Agoncillo is Choosing Between ‘Talentadong Pinoy’ VS ‘Survivor Philippines’ Plus 3 More Shows from GMA January 9, 2010 by cd
GMA-7 is offering Ryan Agoncillo 4 projects including the hosting stint for Survivor Philippines Season 3 just to be an exclusive kapuso talent.
PEP reported earlier that GMA-7 is working hard to get Ryan Agoncillo as the new host of Survivor Philippines since its original host, Paolo Bediones transferred to TV5. The kapuso network is also offering Ryan the meaty role of “Andrew” in the local adaptation of the top-rating koreanovela “Endless Love: Autumn in My Heart” which is topbilled by Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera.
Aside from the two shows mentioned, GMA is also preparing a game show for Ryan and a weekly news and public affairs program. And if ever GMA decides to bring back Pinoy Idol, who will be the “better” host for the show than the first one to host the first version of the franchise and it’s still Ryan. All of these in exchange for Ryan leaving the top-rating talent show on TV5, Talentadong Pinoy, because he will be an exclusive kapuso talent if he accepts the offer.
It’s also interesting to note that it was GMA Network who discovered Ryan. The husband of Judy Ann Santos started his career on GMA’s morning show in the 90’s “Mornings @ GMA” and the youth-oriented program “Campus Video”. If ever he accepts the offer, it will be his comeback to the kapuso station.
The offer is very tempting but if Ryan will leave Talentadong Pinoy, lalabas naman siyang “walang utang na loob.” But here is our take: life is filled with choices and crossroads. In showbiz, the choice is always between career and the pinoy value of “utang na loob.” But guess what the brightest stars in the country have chosen in the past? Angel Locsin chose career than utang na loob. Kris Aquino, Boy Abunda, Anne Curtis, Toni Gozaga, Cristine Reyes, Lorna Tolentino, Paolo Bediones, Claudine Barretto, i can name more but i guess you get the point. Utang na loob will not bring food on the table so i guess more than 90% of those stars who transferred to another station have “career” on their minds.
