Century Tuna reveals new faces of health and fitnessEYE CATCHER Resty Vergara 06/23/2010 Century Tuna recently unveiled its newest health ambassadors, headed by top actress Angel Locsin, in a special media launch held at Annabel’s Restaurant in Quezon City. The rainy afternoon was no match to the smokin’ hot fit and sexy physique of Angel, who was joined by Century Corned Tuna endorser Derek Ramsay and the Century Tuna Superbods 2010 winners, to give media guests an idea of what the leading canned tuna brand has been cooking up for its new campaign. “This is really exciting time for Century Tuna as it positions itself as a health and wellness brand. Our thrust, really, is to help instill in our customers the value of living healthy — of eating right and engaging themselves in fitness activities. We want to clearly communicate this message through our new health ambassadors Angel Locsin and 2010 Superbods who truly mirror the Century Tuna lifestyle — that of having a healthy body and healthy mind,” said Angela Gamboa, Century Tuna senior product manager. At the launch, Angel shared her excitement for being the newest advocate of health. She explained: “I’ve always been committed to imparting positive values among Filipinos, and my endorsement for Century Tuna is definitely a great opportunity to inspire people to be fit and active. The best part is that I’m endorsing something that I really believe in because I’ve always been a big Century Tuna fan. Apart from my passion for sports, Century Tuna is my secret for staying slim and sexy.” According to Gamboa, Angel was a unanimous choice to become the next Century Tuna image model. Apart from being a top actress, model, entrepreneur, sought-after endorser and strong advocate of women’s rights and other charitable causes, she has also gained a reputation for being one of the country’s sexiest and most athletic celebrities.. Just like Derek, the 25-year-old actress is known to be a passionate sports lover who was actually a competitive swimmer before joining showbiz. She revealed that she’s into challenging sports like muay thai, boxing and diving, and is now trying out more fitness activities such as biking and pole dancing. Combined with her Century Tuna diet, Angel has indeed turned from sexy to Superbod! With the launch of Angel, Derek is ecstatic to be joined by a fellow advocate of health and sports. Derek shared: “I’ve really wanted to work with Angel for a very long time, and I’m glad that it has finally come true although this is not for movie or a TV project. If you think about it, it’s actually for a higher purpose as we will both be reaching out to everyone, not only to our fans, to inspire them to adapt a lifestyle of health and fitness.” Apart from Angel, Century Tuna also unveiled its latest roster of Superbods. Introduced were four new faces of health and fitness: 18-year-old nursing student Lea Yosalina, 21-year-old psychology student Jillian Lua, 21-year-old TV host/model Renzie Ongkiko, and 23-year-old civil engineer Van Vincent Leano. The four bested hundreds of model hopefuls who lined up at the Superbods go-see conducted during the Century Tuna Superbods Run 2010, the country’s biggest and most star-studded celebration of health and fitness. As the new Superbods, they got P100,000 each and were featured in Century Tuna ads. With its new advocates of health and fitness, Century Tuna aims to aggressively push healthy lifestyle as a new way of living for Filipinos. www.tribuneonline.org/life/20100623lif2.html

Malaya FRIDAY JUNE 18, 2010 By Mario Bautista *** IT’S the consensus among showbiz writers that ABS CBN has managed to build up a bigger stable of actors and actresses against its toughest rival GMA-7. Let’s make a countdown and see if this is true. Let’s start with the actresses of ABS. Here are the ABS CBN actresses, who can do lead roles: Bea Alonzo, Angel Locsin, Angelica Panganiban, Anne Curtis, KC Concepcion, Kim Chiu, Kristine Hermosa, Toni Gonzaga, and Cristine Reyes. Those who’ve been given lead roles but seem to be on a lower rank are Maja Salvador, Bangs Garcia, Erich Gonzales, Shaina Magdayao, Melissa Ricks, Andi Eigenmann, and Empress Schuck. Those who do hosting are Valerie Concepcion, Mariel Rodriguez, Nikki Gil, and Bianca Gonzales. Among their promising newcomers are Sam Pinto, Queenie Padilla, Isabelle Abiera, and Jessy Mendiola. In the major support category are Karylle, Megan Young, and Maricar Reyes. Among the senior stars are Sharon Cuneta, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Gretchen Barretto, and Kris Aquino, plus comedians like Ai Ai de las Alas, Pokwang, and newcomer Melai Cantiveros, who we hope won’t be just a flash in the pan. Over GMA-7, their lead stars are Marian Rivera (who wouldn’t have been a lead star if Angel Locsin didn’t move to ABS), Rhian Ramos, Regine Velasquez (the most senior at 40), Iza Calzado, Jennylyn Mercado, Carla Abellana and the newly transferred Claudine Barretto (whose own series is rating less than what’s desired). On lower ranks are Kris Bernal, Maxene Magalona, Jackie Rice, Lovi Poe, and Jennica Garcia. Currently out of circulation are Yasmien Kurdi and Sunshine Dizon. Former leads, who now do support roles are Jolina Magdangal ("Panday Kids"), Rufa Mae Quinto ( "Darna" and "Diva"), and Angelika de la Cruz ("Pilyang Kerubin"). GMA has a lot of female villains: Katrina Halili, Bianca King, Iwa Moto, Pauleen Luna, Nadine Samonte, Glaiza de Castro, Arci Munoz, and Ehra and Michelle Madrigal. They also have a hit pre-teener, Barbie Forteza and lead comedian, Eugene Domingo. Hopefully, they can make big stars out of "Starstruck V" winners Sarah Lahbati and Diva Montelaba and "Emir" star Frencheska Farr. So, who do you think has more impressive female star powers between the two networks? *** LET’S NOW LOOK at the actors. ABS CBN has several lead actors. The top three now are John Lloyd Cruz (three times Box Office King in a row), Sam Milby, and Derek Ramsay, who have assignments one after another. Piolo Pascual is still in the running, mainly because of his endorsements, but his last film "Love Me Again" was two years ago and his last TV series "Lovers in Paris" was last year. It’s good he finally has a new show with Santino, "Noah." His former hunk colleagues Diether Ocampo and Jericho Rosales are still around but their luster is no longer as luminous as before. Among the younger actors, the busiest are Gerald Anderson and Jake Cuenca. Two actors who shone in the "Agimat" series are Coco Martin and Jolo Revilla. After them would be Zanjoe Marudo, Jason Abalos, Matteo Guidicelli, Enchong Dee, Ejay Falcon, Matt Evans, Sid Lucero, Rayver Cruz. Then there are the comedian-hosts: Vhong Navarro, Luis Manzano and Billy Crawford. And singers like Martin Nievera, Gary V., Erik Santos, Jed Madela, and Christian Bautista. Their senior actors include Aga Muhlach, Robin Padilla, Gabby Concepcion, and Albert Martinez. One former lead actor, who’s now relegated to comedy roles, is John Prats. In GMA-7, their top two actors are Richard Gutierrez and Dingdong Dantes, followed by Dennis Trillo, Mark Anthony Fernandez, Aljur Abrenica, and Geoff Eigenmann. Then they have recruits from ABS-CBN, who now often do more support than lead roles: Alfred Vargas, Patrick Garcia, Paolo Contis (he can do drama, comedy and hosting with equal ease, so we are wondering, why he’s not given a lead role), Marvin Agustin, and TJ Trinidad. Also doing lead roles every now and then are Jay-R, Mike Tan, Dion Ignacio, and Polo Ravales (who does more villain roles now). Then there are the Japanese Brazilian recruits: Daniel Matsunaga (the most promising), Akihiro Sato, and Fabio Ide. They also have their comedians: Ogie Alcasid, Janno Gibbs, Michael V., and Vic Sotto. Too bad for GMA that one of their top bets, JC De Vera, moved to TV 5 and another one they posed to elevate to stardom, Paolo Avelino, who is now about to be an unwed dad. We also don’t know why they don’t utilize transferee like Mark Bautista and the winner in "Are You the Next Big Star," Geoff Taylor. So, who do you think has more powerful star wattage: the "Kapuso" or "Kapamilya" actors? www.malaya.com.ph/06232010/ent_mario.html

Note: Angel is mentioned only once in this article and in passing but I like the title and I guess you know why I am posting the whole article -------------------- No photo Leonardo Di Caprio sa Bicol dederetso ABOUT SHOWBIZ Ni Nitz Miralles (Pilipino Star Ngayon) Updated June 23, 2010 12:00 AM Napansin naming may mga tattoo sa kani-kanyang wrists sina Maxene Magalona at Cristine Reyes. * * * www.philstar.com/Article.aspx?articleId=586853&publicationSubCategoryId=96

John Lloyd Cruz’s role in 'Imortal' first offered to PioloThe role of a vampire in ABS-CBN’s forthcoming fantaserye “Lobo 2: Imortal” was first offered to Piolo Pascual before John Lloyd Cruz got it. Piolo was the first choice for the role, but he politely turned it down because he wanted to work with wonder kid Zaijian Jaranilla in “Noah,” also on ABS-CBN. “Imortal” is the sequel to “Lobo,” the first TV pairing of Piolo and Angel Locsin. Angel eventually earned an Emmy Awards nomination for her role in the series. Star Cinema boss Malou Santos reportedly felt slighted when Piolo turned down “Imortal” because she believes it would have been a good follow-up to “Lobo,” but she respects the actor's decision. John Lloyd, it seemed, was overwhelmed by the chance to work with Angel. He reportedly once confessed to a friend how he desired to work with the actress. He has a big crush on Angel, and working with her in a TV series is a dream come true for the newly crowned Box Office King of the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Award. It is said that even way before Shaina Magdayao came into his life, John Lloyd was already smitten by the beauty and sexiness of Angel. This must be the reason he didn’t mind if he was just a second choice for the role of the vampire in the series. Angel plays a werewolf in the series, which marks her first time to work with the three-time box office king. PEP Interview with Aga Mulach WORKING WITH ANGEL. "Yung sa amin ni Angel, we're leaving next week for Japan. Nag-first day na kami. Mahirap yung gagawin namin, napakahirap talaga. And you know I've been meeting with them, with Angel, with director. Nice, cowboy na cowboy. I'm really happy with the project I'm doing now kasama ko si Angel," sabi ni Aga. "This is even more than that, this is serious dancing talaga," sagot ni Aga. "You know, like yung ginagawa talaga ng [Universal Motion Dancers], Streetboys, Maneuvres, 'yong mga ganung sayaw na talagang....Bang! Bang! Bang!" - PEP, Ruby dela Rosa, Thursday, June 24, 2010

source: twilightangela.blogspot.com/Angel Locsin to Film "Huling Sayaw" in Japan Next WeekFriday, June 25, 2010 Posted by Nicky at 12:41 AM After months of delay in filming the movie, "Huling Sayaw", of Angel Locsin with Aga Mulach it appears that the shooting is starting to speed up as Aga shared in a press conference for his upcoming TV sitcom two days ago. In the interview, Aga confirmed that he is leaving with Angel next week for Japan. The first part of the movie will be shot there and expected to film there for 10 days. In this movie, we will see Aga dancing again but more serious than what he did in 'Bagets' movie in the '80s. Aga shared that he needs to lose more pounds than what he did in 'Love Story' in 2007. If he reduced his weight to 160 lbs for that movie, he feels that he needs to reduce his weight to 150 lbs for this movie since as an expert ballroom dancer, he needs to be lean and agile. "Huling Sayaw" as we gathered is an action-drama and not a typical a love story because it will also involve politics. Angel and Aga are both dancers in this movie so there will be a lot of dance sequences but they are not stripteasers here although the theme will be dark and sensual. They both confirmed that the roles they are going to play are very challenging and some scenes will be difficult since they are entirely different from their past movies. In preparation, Angel and Aga started meeting from 25th of February for dance rehearsals since they were supposed to begin shooting on 15th of March but did not materialize. To-date, they completed a one day shooting for this movie on 14th of June. Angel did a superb job in her first scene, which involved pole dancing and took her only one take. She was wearing a one-piece suit during her dance sequence. Prior to filming, Angel underwent rigid training in pole dancing and got bruises. She enrolled in a pole dancing class to train her body to be more flexible and learn the art of sensual fitness routine. Imagine Angel Locsin shifting her weight and limbs through different balance positions while suspended in a pole, and suddenly she grips the pole with her inner thighs and all her limbs are extended upside down. She has also been preparing to become physically fit for the movie by running hard and working out. In an interview with Angel, she shared that the moviegoers will see her portraying a different character which she has never though of portraying and will do scenes that that will be seen only in this movie because she will not be doing it again. It will be a challenge for her because she will be doing some uncomfortable scenes so it will take a lot of concentration and motivation. Before the shooting, Angel has already bonded with Aga by having dinner together in a restaurant owned by the family of Cesar Montano. Here are the photos shared by Sunshine through her Twitter account. Other casts are Jake Cuenca and Ryan Eigenmann under the direction of multi-awarded director, Olive Lamasan. She directed several blockbuster hits and critically acclaimed movies such In My Life, Milan, Madrasta, and Anak. Although this is the first project of Angel with Ms. Olive, Aga has worked with Ms. Olive in the past for "Sana Maulit Muli" that also starred Lea Salonga. The movie was conceptualized by ABS-CBN unit head Enrico Santos and being produced by Star Cinema. Incidentally, Ms. Olive is also the ABS-CBN's Vice President for Creative. sources: various articles and are hyper-linked as above.

Aga Muhlach reveals that his movie with Angel Locsin is full of challengesby Fionna Acaba | June 25, 2010 9:20 AM Aga Muhlach was ecstatic when he told the press about his upcoming movie with Angel Locsin under Star Cinema. They have already started shooting and will be flying to Japan next week to shoot more important scenes. "Nag-first day pa lang kami. [It was] nice, cowboy na cowboy si Angel. I am really happy with the projects that I am doing now. "Mahirap yung pelikulang gagawin namin, napakahirap talaga. But Aga said that he becomes more challenged and more interested in a movie whenever he is reminded of the difficult scenes. He also does not know any Hollywood actor who played the same character before. "Wala akong peg dito, ako lang. Kung baga kailangan lang husayan ko lang at pagbutihan ko lang talaga at nang maging maayos kasi napakagandang pelikula ang ibinigay sa akin ng Star Cinema. I am really looking forward na maayos ko talaga siya plus the fact na sabi nga ni Olive Lamasan, 'Gagawa lang talaga tayo ng pelikula na kakaiba.’ Hanggang sa dumating na nga ito, sumobra naman ng iba." He could not think of a specific genre where the movie could fit. "Halo-halo, e. Sigurado 'yan." The movie tells the story of professional dancers in the ‘90s—like the Streetboys, Maneuvers, and Universal Motion Dancers—and their lives after 15 years in retirement. There will also be conflicts about government and politics, which will intertwine with his romance with Angel Locsin's character. ABS-CBN.com asked Aga if he would be dancing a lot in the movie. "Oh, yes. Even more than that, this is serious dancing talaga na you know, yung ginagawa ng UMD, Streetboys, Maneuvers… Mga ganung sayaw. Meron [breakdancing], lalabas lahat yun dun. Ibang approach ang gagawin ni Direk Olive talaga so I am really excited and ninenerbiyos talaga ako pati si Angel." For his new project, Aga is also losing weight just like what he did for his movie with Anne Curtis, Let the Love Begin, two years ago. "Dapat itong payat ko, hindi lang ganito. Mas dapat mas payat pa ako [kaysa] nung two years ago sa movie ko [with Anne Curtis]. Among his contemporaries, Aga is the one often paired with younger leading ladies today. Aga considers it a privilege as he is still regarded as a matinee idol at his age. "Salamat but ang sinasabi ko nga people know naman na I've grown, but if I am paired sa mga ganun [kabata] parang okay lang, parang there is nothing wrong. It is normal. Ang hindi lang normal is when you look at them at four in the morning and yung kutis talaga nila [iba na talaga as compared to yours]. Hanep. Parang iniisip mo, iba talaga ang youth." Meanwhile, he also has a movie with the Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez which they are wrapping up soon. "Abangan niyo din yung movie namin ni Regine, malapit na kami matapos, six days to go.” www.abs-cbn.com/Feature/Article/7850/Aga-Muhlach-reveals-that-his-movie-with-Angel-Locsin-is-full-of-challenges.aspx
