Congratulations Kulet for your nomination as Best Supporting Actor in 7th Golden Screen Awards>>>>>> Indie versus mainstream In the forthcoming 7th Golden Screen Awards, the acting categories will be a battle between indie performers and those from the mainstream. Although it’s evident that nominees from the indie outnumber those from the mainstream. In the Best Actress (Drama) category. Movie queens Vilma Santos (In My Life) and Sharon Cuneta (Mano Po 6: A Mother’s Love) and popular junior actress Bea Alonzo (And I Love You So) are against Iza Calzado (Dukot), Rustica Carpio (Lola), Anita Linda (Lola) and Sagrada Familia’s Lovi Poe and Snooky Serna. The same also holds true in the Best Actress (Musical or Comedy) category where Pop Princess and Box-office Queen Sarah Geronimo (You Changed My Life) and comic ace Eugene Domingo (Kimmy Dora) will be challenged by veterans Gina Alajar and Elizabeth Oropesa of Ded Na Si Lolo. For the Best Actor (Drama) category, John Lloyd Cruz (In My Life) and Sam Milby (And I Love You So) face a strong competition from the indie side: Coco Martin (Kinatay), Allen Dizon (Dukot), Emilio Garcia (Sagrada Familia), Felix Roco (Engkuwentro) and Colorum’s Alfred Vargas and Lou Veloso. John Lloyd’s work in the mammoth hit You Changed My Life will have him pitting against Ded Na Si Lolo’s Roderick Paulate and Last Supper No. 3’s Joey Paras in the Best Actor (Musical or Comedy) category. For Best Supporting Actress, Heart Evangelista (Mano Po 6: A Mother’s Love) is the lone nominee from the mainstream. Offering her stiff competition are Gina Alajar (Dukot), Gloria Diaz (Sagrada Familia), Maria Isabel Lopez (Kinatay) and Tessie Tomas (Sanglaan). Lastly, in the Best Supporting Actor category, Dennis Trillo (Mano Po 6: A Mother’s Love) and Luis Manzano (In My Life) are to compete with Emilio Garcia (Bente), John Apacible (Dukot), Jojit Lorenzo (Last Supper No. 3) and John Regala (Kinatay). www.manilastandardtoday.com/insideEntertainment.htm?f=2010/march/18/entertainment2.isx&d=2010/march/18Thursday, March 18, 2010
